what would you say if i told you you could have a functioning 100% polymer p90 that could last approximately 10000 shots based on physical tests with new material science advancements for $100?
>>
>>29443077
id be skeptical. the price point especially
>>
That you're a liar.
Almost all of the PS90 is polymer already so it's not unfathomable, but the springs, bolt, barrel, etc cannot be replaced with a composite for $100.

The real gun costs around 1500 new and will not blow up after 1000 rounds.

And?
>>
>>29443162
This. I'd rather have one rifle that can last 1 million rounds than 100 that can last 10000. Make the wear parts out of the best material and save the polymer for the rest until it becomes as good or better than steel for barrels and such.
>>
>>29443593
They're making better and stronger polymers now. It's possible we could see something like that in the future.

But there's no way in hell you could get something like that now, and definitely not for 100 bucks.

I would say that it gives the poor more options when buying a gun for self defense. Its the same principle as people who buy hi points or whatever and just leave them in a drawer as insurance.
>>
>>29443593
Steel and polymer have very different properties and behave very differently. I'm no engineer, but even I understand you can't swap out one material for another purely based on tensile strength.
>>
>>29443796
What are you talking anout? That was made with a single 20 sollar spindle.
>>
>>29443077
I would say you have a poorly made automatic firearm that will almost certainly not last one-tenth as long as you are boasting.

Might as well just buy a pellet gun, or save up a bit for a surplus Nagant; that way there is certainty the fucking thing will work.

3d printed for 100usd worth of polymer
Lel no

the only 3d printed guns you can make for that kind of money (aside from the 3K$ for the 3d printing machine plus computer and software) are break action low powered pistols (.380, .38sp wad, .45lc cowboy action, 22lr and the like

now making a new body kit for an already barreled P90/PS90 is doable, yet not for 100$ worth of polymer.
>>
>>29443112
Well, he said shoot, never said accuracy.
The chance the bullet would blow out the side is small, but it would rip out the riflings within 10 rounds.

>>
>>29448599
how is it a suggestion if it's right on their main page?
>>
>>29446352
I mean it's not that they are shit with those temps, it's that filament fed 3d printers print with ABS which is a thermo plastic, which means it shrinks when it cools and expands when it heats. it's designed for injection molding where hot plastic goes into a steel mold and then shrinks and can fall out.
>>
>>29447397
SLA printers are even better.

>>29448176

I mean that's normal, you probably still need to turn it though because burs.
>>
>>29448602
The differences are in the type of materials it can handle and the size of the item you want to print. The one on the right has a printING platform the size of like a medium pizza
>>
>>29448712
SLA is harder to work with and it's more expensive. the resins alone would be 100 bucks per liter. you can get 1kg spindles for 20 bucks. and at 50 microns they aren't THAT much better. the Form 2 is 25 microns, which is just half, yet it costs double, and you have to avoid UV light hitting the chamber, and you have to make support structures.
>>
>>29448882
it goes all the way up vertically though.

i mean yeah yo could work with a lot of different materials but PLA fulfills a lot of requirements for molds and prototyping. i don't do 3d printing but i think it's a nice place to start at 1700. the others are super pricy in comparison even if they do allow you to build higher dimensions, and it's not like you can't slice your model so that you can assemble it.

well technically it's a collab between japan and taiwan, so it's not super chink tier per se. i think the feeding head is titanium also. chinks would never dare spend that much.

honestly, I wouldn't even care about the firearms considerations...

if you can make a polymer p90 that's 100% polymer, then you've just told me, assuming a factor of safety of 2, that you've made plastic that can withstand ~100,000psi without bursting.

so tell me anon, what else can you magic plastic do?

op here
>First and foremost, the all-metal structure, made from titanium and hard stainless steel, allows for fast heating up to 500°C. Whereas many common hotends max out at around 300°C and are therefore limited to processing PLA or ABS, the DyzEND-X can 3D print with just about any plastic filament on the market, including abrasive (e.g. carbon fiber reinforced) and flexible materials (e.g. Ninjaflex).

it only goes down to 200 microns anyway. the printer in the original pic goes down to 50, but it only handles PLA at 200 celsius. the carbon fiber stuff would probably need to go hotter. i wonder if the OEM head can adjust in temperature. probably not advisable but still. it would be interesting.
>>
>>29449505
here are the parts you could print with it if you were willing to stick to only 200 micron precision.

Carbon Fiber
HSHT Fiberglass
Fiberglass
Kevlar

would any of these work for a gun?
