They are smoke canisters. Once fired from the tubes on top they glow up mid air into the shape you see. They than just like normal smoke spread out towards the ground.
Couple of years ago i made a compilation with some neat pictures of /k/ related pictures i found around the internet. I'm at work so i can't really repost them one by one, but would appreciate if someone else did. It's on imgur.
