I enjoyed flying in the UH1H, rappelling and parachuting out of them. I also enjoyed the UH60. The only difference was a bit more room while sitting in the door for air assaults and jumps.

Dumb dick, if the doors are closed, there is no one parachuting out. There is no covert ops LRS, Ranger or Special Forces mission

If you're not on an airborne op, you're a fucking pogue doing pogue training bullshit. If you were training to deploy special operations personnel, the doors would be open and you would have airborne joes standing by.

I've always wondered, are the compasses used in the cockpit in milliradiants or degrees? Is it a grid compass or magnetic and does it get re-calibrated when the airframe moves base or gets deployed?

Its degrees, magnetic and every (I want to say) year it gets tested and there is a slip of paper that says what the compass reads vs what it actually is.

No, 160th are a bunch of prima donnas. They require 72hr notice for a mission, if anything changes the mission gets scrapped.

Normal line units go at the drop of a hat and get the mission done no questions asked.

I WANTED to go to taskforce, then I learned how big of faggots they are.

I have no doubts that they're good at what they do... when they do it. I also know a bunch of stories of crewchiefs going to task force and snubbing their old friends and acting like they don't exist. Its some highschool clique bullshit.

Don't get me wrong though, there are some people in 160th who are total bros. They usually end up back in line units though.

>>29387391
Yeah, not everything on the helo is rocket surgery. They're pretty easy to maintain, just tedious and time-consuming. Your only real reward for finishing up maintenance for the day is more of the same tomorrow. At least I get a break and fly at least once a week.

It's like you don't even love sexy blade tips.

It's a great combination of load capacity and operational flexibility. It's probably the closest the UK has to the blackhawk.

It fills the exact same role as the Huey or Blackhawk but is a more advanced, more capable, and reportedly more fun to fly airframe.

An helicopters' speed has no relation to it's size. In fact, the larger the chopper, the faster and more easy to fly it is.

This chopper is closer to the Cougar or superPuma than Blackhawk though.

I'd say its the mid-point between Chinook and Stallion.

the mag compass is in degrees and is calibrated for deviation which is magnetic interference from stuff in the aircraft. It is calibrated everytime some piece of electronics is changed for something different. It could go unchanged for years and years.

Changing areas of operation is corrected for by correcting your flight planning for magnetic variation which is the degrees difference between true north and magnetic north for the area in which you are flying.

Magnetic deviation may be different from craft to craft but the variation is the same for all in any given area.
