https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Suiyang

>Yin Ziqi had besieged the city for a long time. The food in the city had run out. The dwellers traded their children to eat and cooked bodies of the dead. Fears were spread and worse situations were expected. At this time, Zhang Xun took his concubine out and killed her in front of his soldiers in order to feed them. He said, "You have been working hard at protecting this city for the country wholeheartedly. Your loyalty is uncompromised despite the long-lasting hunger. Since I can't cut out my own flesh to feed you, how can I keep this woman and just ignore the dangerous situation?" All the soldiers cried, and they did not want to eat. Zhang Xun ordered them to eat the flesh. Afterwards, they caught the women in the city. After the women were run out, they turned to old and young males. 20,000 to 30,000 people were eaten. People always remained loyal.

It's offensive to me that "the pacific war" is assumed to be just the US marines doing all the heavy work on some islands, when japan always had at least 80% of its entire military in china during the war
>>
I'd want a discovery or history HD documentary crew on every naval ship during midway.
Second choice is Battle of the Bulge, HD color cameraman in every foxhole.
I don't think we have an understanding of what happened in the Ardennes. The closest thing to a reenactment I ever got was my grandfather drunk on Jacky D talking about writing his will in a foxhole on Christmas Eve 1944.

>Stalingrad
>not intense

Yall niggas don't Mamayev Kurgan

>On the same day, the Soviet 13th Guards Rifle Division commanded by Alexander Rodimtsev arrived in the city from the east side of the river Volga under heavy German artillery fire. The division's 10,000 men immediately rushed into the battle. On 16 September they recaptured Mamayev Kurgan and kept fighting for the railway station, taking heavy losses. By the following day, almost all of them had died. The Soviets kept reinforcing their units in the city as fast as they could. The Germans assaulted up to twelve times a day, and the Soviets would respond with fierce counter-attacks.

>The hill changed hands several times. By 27 September, the Germans again captured half of Mamayev Kurgan. The Soviets held their own positions on the slopes of the hill, as the 284th Rifle Division defended the key stronghold. The defenders held out until 26 January 1943, when the counterattacking Soviet forces relieved them. The battle of the city ended one week later with an utter German defeat.

>When the battle ended, the soil on the hill had been so thoroughly churned by shellfire and mixed with metal fragments that it contained between 500 and 1,250 splinters of metal per square meter. The earth on the hill had remained black in the winter, as the snow kept melting in the many fires and explosions. In the following spring the hill would still remain black, as no grass grew on its scorched soil. The hill's formerly steep slopes had become flattened in months of intense shelling and bombardment. Even today, it is possible to find fragments of bone and metal still buried deep throughout the hill.

they found the skeletons of a german and russian who simultaneously bayoneted each other and where then killed and buried by an explosion.

Easy as fuck to answer, The Great Siege of Malta 1565.

>conservative estimates have 6 to 1 manpower rank in favor of the turks
>most written accounts have much higher estimates though
>highest credible estimate has 60 to 1

That's 300,000 turks beaten and mostly killed by 6,000ish soldiers and 500-1000 knights hospitallers.
>various FIRE weapons were the greatest casualty producing weapons
>the only loss the knights suffered was after the first Fort, St. Elmo, was totally (not hyperbole) destroyed by weeks of turkish bombardment, and even then the survivors of that fought to the last man against janissaries in the smoking ruins
>turks lost almost their entire force by the end

>>
>>29376081
They had muskets, bows, cannons, ALOT of cannons, ships, FIRE HOOPS, fire bombs, spears, swords, axes, knives, rocks and armored fists in this siege. Muskets were used as sharpshooter weapons by the turks, they had the better guns, but there was alot of hand to hand fighting still. Even the grandmaster of the order, who was an older man already, fought hand to hand. His ancient rival was also finally killed, but by dumb luck. But I don't think Dragut deserved a warrior's death anyway.

It was also likely that the knights had close to 500 than 1000, but more were continually trying to join the fray as news of the siege spread.

I'm really not doing it justice, it was simply the most awful and impressive fight there ever could be. At least I've gotten to climb all over the old battle sites.

Read this before you disregard what allied soldiers went through in Normandy.

There is much evidence to support the claim that D-Day was every bit as fucking titanic a struggle as Bagration or Stalingrad.

Battle of Suomussalmi, during the Winter War

Either that or I'd just follow Simo Hayha around for a few days. Might be able to get footage of him getting shot.

Fuck you, we have way too much records of those already.

I'd go back BC-tier millenia you chucklefucks. To shit that we could only speculate today.

I want to agree, and I'd love footage from those times as well, but I'm just not interested enough in that era to fully side with you.

First Battle of Bull Run
Union and Confederates begin fighting, Union takes initiative, Jackson appears, Union flees through spectators watching the battle, Confederate Calvary chases after them.

I don't want to sound too crazy but I'm pretty sure Swedens were replaced by intergalactic aliens some time in the early 20th century

Up until after WWII, Sweden was pretty good. Weirdly they even had their own lebensborn-style system until the fifties I think.

Something happened in the 60s-70s that threw them off kilter.

Yes yes, soviets did all the work with everyone else making their material and/or supply the resources. Soviets stronk military that don't need no logistics.

They'd all have had bad death if the western allies had not helped them. If you're really a slavaboo, then you SHOULD be upset that the western allies purposely used stupid soviets as cannon fodder, because they certainly were not a professional military by western standards. It really is almost shameful how the west used those commies. Almost.

Battle of Zorndorf

Fredrick's Army tried to enclose the Russians by using an Oblique formation, with his left being much stronger than the right.

But because unfavorable terrain didn't allow the Russian army to move at all, and the Prussian left couldn't break the Russian resistance in time, it turned into an extremely bloody clash along the entire front of both lines.

>"bodies of Russians covered the field row by row; they kissed their cannons while their bodies were cut to pieces by our sabers, but still they would not retreat"

>"One Russian detachment was said to have taken hold of a supply of wine barrels and drunk themselves to stupefaction."

China couldn't expel them over a decade of fighting. Only after the US spent 3.5 years adding pressure by island grinding and burning Japan to the ground did they win. It's really a team effort.

Truthfully, the Chinese side of the war is woefully underrepresented. Try talking to 20-somethings today about Nanking & Unit 731 and you get blank stares half the time. My weeaboo friends' reactions were priceless.

>Try talking to 20-somethings today about Nanking & Unit 731 and you get blank stares half the time.

Are you talking to 20-somethings who are interested in history, or random friends? If you talk to anybody about anything WW2 besides what's taught in high school, you should expect a blank stare.

Protip: most people wouldn't care even if they knew about all the shit the Japanese did at Nanking, or the deeds of Unit 731.

If anything to hear 20,000 angry polish hussars chanting the hail mary before charging downhill and cutting a bloody swathe into hundreds of thousands of turks. Could we get an aerial shot, since we are in fantasy land?

Deus Vult when?

Doesn't have to be helicopters. 70mm lens and the right optics in the hills surrounding Vienna or on the walls themselves could capture the devastation Jan Sobesky brought to the turkroaches.

Or thin outside the box with a small and stealthy drone. I dunno, I imagine the scope of the battles we are talking about to be pretty limited. Be nice to get the full picture, ya know?

>>29380046
scope would be pretty limited from the ground level.

The battle of Gaugamela because I'd want to see if the opening of the Persian center was a planned result of the combination of the left echelon and Alexander's cavalry moving parallel to the line of battle, or if it was just an accident Alexander capitalized on.
