So, /k/, put my first ar15 together. Was taking apart the bcg, put it back together...the firing pin retaining pin is in, but it seems to be poking out a bit. I've re-inserted, re-positioned, wriggled, tapped...that's as far as it wants to go. Is that OK?
Get a new retaining pin. This one's fucked.
No, re-position the firing pin and the retaining pin till it fits in.
That pins not engaged yet.

lube it and hit it with a mallet
Make sure the firing pin is pushed all the way in

one of the prongs on the end of the pin isnt in the hole. look inside by the firing pin and use something to guide it in
Sometimes one leg of the pin gets stuck on the other side. Just press on it from different positions until it fits in.
Firing pin seems to be all the way in, doesn't shake loose.

So, with better light, I can see the single pin engaged and the shorter one not all the way in....
And, after playing with some forceps to readjust...
Thanks, /k/.
What would have happened if I'd gone shooting with it halfway out? Will it catch on the upper if its sticking out? or would it just have failed and the firing pin drop out?

u r dumb, the bcg wouldn't even fit in the upper.

You you'd managed to fit the bolt carrier into the upper, it wouldn't have been pretty lol.

>the shorter one not all the way in....
