Lookin to pick up either an m44 mosin or a swiss k31, what does /k/ think?
>>29339556
K-31 for a good rifle
M44 for cheap ammo
>>29339556
Neither get an Enfield
>>29339582
get all three
either or conversations are for losers. Acquire all options.
>>29339582
>get an enfield
>post the worst one
smdh tbqh familia
>>29339600
this desu
Nugget food is getting more expensive, and so are nuggets. Go for the k31 first.
No such thing as bad Enfield variants.
I love my Ishapore. .308 mad minutes all day
>>29339556
>>29339569
the ammo isnt "cheap" for either right now, probably wont be ever again
If you dont mind paying ~40 cpr or more, either are fine rifles.
If you're set on milsurp consider a garand as well, CMP is drying out and prices will eventually sky rocket. If you're set on a nugget, get an M39.
>>29339582
this is good too
>>29339600
best option
>>29339556
Mosin fires cheaper boollits
It probably helps to add that I have probably the best condition swiss 1914 pioneer bayonet not in a swiss museum or something. Only reason I'm not pulling the trigger on the K31 is because I can't find any in decent condition, while you can get m44s practically spotless.
>>29339629
CMP has about 80,000 M1s left. Probably gunna be a few years left before they are gone. I agree with your point on the M39 though. The M39 is fukcing amazing. Just wish mine was a little smoother
>>29339651
>80,000 garands
that is quite a few, however they sell them everyday. probably will last a while though.
M39 is one of my favorite bolt guns, and I own a k98, no3, 4 and 5 enfields, so i guess thats saying something.
>>29339556
K31 for that match rifle like accuracy
>>29339691
I would normally agree with you but alot of people dont really know about the CMP. And they guys who do dont buy 10 garands just to buy them. I give it till 2020-2025 before the M1s are all gone. But if they ever get those M1s from Korea add like another 5 years. I love my M39 as well. I have a Hex 91/30 an M44 as well and they just arent as nice
>>29339604
>1 inch between front a rear sight
Wew lad
>>29339763
2020-25 is longer than I would expect, but I hope they last that long.
>>29339789
>>29339796
I would be suprised if they didnt last at least 5 years. Poorfags dont want to buy M1s because they cant afford the ammo. And the guys who are into M1s already have more then 3 at this point
>>29339834
I'll get one eventually but since I probably wouldn't shoot it much I've been holding back. I should just fucking buy one now before its too late.
>>29339853
Do it. A nice M1 shouldn't be shot too much anyways, you need one in good shape as an heirloom for your son.
>>29339853
Holy fuck they are fun as shit, 30-06 isnt expensive at all. The only thing I can say about them is that (mine at least) they dont like steel case ammo. PPU makes the best modern M2 Ball
>>29339928
>shouldnt be shot too much
Shoot the shit out if it
>>29339947
>Shoot the shit out if it
buy 2, then. One that will be kept nice, one as a workhorse.
My carbine and Garand go through maybe 8 boxes of ammo each, yearly. They only go out when it's nice and sunny to lightly stretch their legs
where should i be searching if im in the market for a decent grade (as in good shooting but maybe not the prettiest) k31?
>>29339806
Lad
>>29339981
I mean I see where you are comming from 100% but why? Most M1s arent matching anyway. The only M1s I wouldnt shoot offten are Winchesters and really really really nice rifles
>>29339993
Simpsons LTD
>>29340010
>SMLE Jungle Carbine
Looks better then the No. 5 and No. 6
>>29340010
for a moment I saw an actual 10 inch barrel Enfield No 1 Mk 3, just in the thumbnail
and it made my penis very hard
>>29340024
Well maybe it's because I have all matching, seemingly unissued Carbine and a D-barrelled Garand, both made in early '42
I can't bring myself to shoot the piss out of them.
>>29340047
Again I see where you are comming from. But why not get brand new barrels for both, have both rebarreled and then shoot the shit out of those. And if you ever want to sell them just have them re-rebarreled with the originals
>>29340085
Don't feel like molesting the guns like that.
Besides, more modern rifles are more enjoyable to shoot if I'm being perfectly honest. Sure, the M1s have that MURICA feeling to them, but my AKs, ARs and cheapshit surplus can at least match the M1s. Why go through that trouble when I can keep them on fair-weather duty, and keep my little pieces of Americana nice for the next owner?
>>29340135
Then why dont you sell them now? I disagree that more modern rifles are more fun. They are just as fun I will give it that. I mean fuck if you arent going to shoot them then whats the point? You can sell that Carbine for 1000+ and get a really nice AR and sell the M1 for more and get something even nicer
>>29340181
because I like them, and my future son will like them.
>sell your M1s
come on now
>>29340280
>owning gun guns that you dont shoot
>inb4 "You wouldnt shoot an Original Colt Walker now would you"
>>29339606
Those have also increased in price. Good luck finding one for under $400 these days.
>>29340334
What Mosins or K31s? Niggers near me sell them for like 600
>>29339947
its less about cpr, more about I want other shit that I know I'd use more. I'll get around to it soon.
>>29340358
K31s. Mosins are around $225+ now.
>>29340392
I thought 350-400 was the standard price for K31s
>>29340413
Last year it was. But this is 2016. $400 is the bare minimum, and the vast majority are around $500 or more.
>>29340424
>Its (THE CURRENT YEAR).
Most people who bought them seem to be selling them now that they cant get ammo at the local big box store. Just sad they they are upcharging them so much since they have only been popular for 2 or 3 years
>missed out on the nugget train
>tfw no cheap but excellent bolt action
>>29340602
>Mosin
>Excellent
>>29340611
*for the price
>>29340476
They're not being imported anymore, for whatever reason.
>>29340639
Well if this was 5 years ago I would agree. But if we are talking JUST the M39 then I would mostly agree
>>29340645
>>29340645
import ban on russian shit due to the situation in ukraine
>>29340703
but the K31 is Swiss
>>29339789
>>29340010
top kek
>>29339556
Get a mosin, you'll find way more ammo for it than you will for the K31. I wouldn't get a K31 as a starter surplus gun imo. It's a great rifle but paying over a dollar a round to shoot it? Lel, noooo
>>29340727
PPU is $0.75/rnd
>>29339582
I fuckin love me an Enfield.
>>29340774
Price Per Unit? You mean cartridge?
Is 7.62x54r really at 3/4 of a dollar?
>>29340787
PPU Is a brand dork
>>29340774
Where in stock?
>>29340787
No it's Prvi Partizan, serbian ammo, and 7.62x54r is in the 30 cent range.
>>29340797
Is PPU good cheap training ammo? I'm not the other anon your talking to but am trying to figure out which rifle would be cheapest to feed to train with.
>>29340829
PPU is fucking great ammo.
>>29340829
For 7.5 swiss yes, for mosin no.
>>29340727
At first I wanted to call you out on bullshit, but damn that ammo supply seems to have dried up...
What happened?
>>29340821
Supposedly AIM and PSA have it in stock.
Of course if you're shooting milsurp guns you really should reload.
>>29340877
Doesn't seem to have them in stock for the price you said.
>>29340871
Idk man, I was gonna get a K31 soon too :(
>>29340727
>>29340890
I was really hyped on getting a k31 until I read this too :/ It hurts even more since I have a $300 bayonet for the thing, if I could sell it maybe I could put the funds towards an m39 but idk where to even begin with that
>>29339556
neither. 7.5 swiss is $1.25 per round and youd be better served by a new production .308.
if you MUST have a milsurp rifle buy a finn mosin or a mauser in 8mm. those are the only things worth their current ammo prices for the quality for a poorfag like yourself.
7.5 Swiss seems pretty simple to reload for, though I'm not as excited now that the cheap K31s are gone.
