Looking to get a glock 19, what's the major difference from gen 3 to 4, and what advantages does each have over the other?
Bumping for interest
Each generation reduces the chance of spontaneous internal catastrophic failure by %6.

Generation 4 has a larger magazine release, a 2 stage recoil spring, and interchangeable backstraps.
Generation 3 has a smaller original style magazine release, a single stage recoil spring, and fixed backstrap.
The texturing on the grip is different as well. Gen 4 will cost more money.
I may be forgetting some other differences.
Both will be reliable and accurate. It comes down to you trying them out to see what you like.

Pretty much this OP.
Here's my gen 3.
Love it.
i have a gen 3 but i like the grip texture a bit more on gen 4, dont really care about the backstraps myself i really like the size of he gen 3 backstrap, i think the gen 4 also comes with 3 instead of 2 mags
I like my Gen 4. I just gotta unfuck the trigger and get some new sights.

Also the gen 4 is thinner in ways too.
There is $35 difference in dealer cost between the two generations. The Gen4 comes with three mags instead of two.

Don't forget the extra mag and I think the finish is different from the 3 to the 4.

What knife is that brahhh
Newer design. Changeable backstrap. Main thing is some of you parts e not interchangeable with previous generations. I have a very early model gen1 g17, I just bought a gen4 g19. Same holster takes all my g17 mags. The differences are really slight. Want to throw your old G17 barrel into a G19 go gen3 or before. You can get the new style spring for ealier glocks. Im about to redo my 17 now. You wont go wrong with either.
