Mapp pricing.

They went wrong when they try to sell a $100 knife for $300

Outsourced to China..
>>
If you find them cheap they are nice knives. I have a griptilian that I keep in my truck 24/7 that seems to be holding up fairly well after about 2 years of use

They still don't make a decent folder that doesn't have the trilock as the only redeemable factor.

nothing, solid knives with great steel selection and great customer service.
>>

Overpriced, hit and miss quality control.
>>
They created the best folding knife ever with the 940. Of course it's going go down hill from there.
>>
>>29306781
i have 4 fucking benchmades, what fucking quality control are you talking about because i've had no problems
>>
>>29306829
I've have 6 fucking benchmades, and I've had blades rubbing against liners, shit blade centering out of the box, perpetually loose pivots that need Loctite to keep from backing out, cheap hardware stripping, and generally shoddy craftsmanship.

I know Benchmade can make a very good knife, I'm not shitting on the company as a whole, but they're definitely overpriced for what you get, and they could use more consistent quality checks.

For what it's worth, I've had more lemons from Kershaw than Benchmade.

How about Emersons?

>>
>>29307100
By how much though.

I only paid 120 for mine, and was in nice condition (even though the guy was shady and the box all fucked, had to take it to a pawn dude to verify it wasnt a lemon).
>>
>>29306497
Pleb.
My dream knife is a waveable spearpoint Code 4 though.
>>
>>29307100
That a-100 is pretty goat for edc doe.
>>
>>29307116
yeah but you can use the same logic with benchmades.
>>29307304
its also like 200 dollars for a basic folder with a liner lock.
>>
>>29307333
>yeah but you can use the same logic with benchmades.

Yeah I like to browse pawn shops and ask knife folks around for this very reason.
>>
What about CRKT? Was thinking about getting this one...

Yep, that's why I can't justify buying it despite finding that design lovely.
>>

>What about CRKT?
Probably the best "cheap" knife manufacturer.

They are better quality than other cheap manufacturers like Gerber, Meyerco, etc. They may not be as good pound for pound as the budget lines from more expensive companies (Ontario RATs, Spyderco Tenacious/Byrd line), but they make up for it with more variety.
>>
they fucked up when they started charging $200 for $100 folding knives. I have a 940 that I paid $120 for back in 2012. I would never pay their current prices now. There are just too many excellent knives in that price range that are superior.
>>
>>29307041

gotta love Kershaw. I have a couple walmart specials from them that are very nice (love my Brawler) and one ZT 0560 that is a fucking mess. Machining marks everywhere on the blade, shitty grind, and terrible sticky lock. I should have returned it when I had the chance.
>>
>>29304171
I thought I might as well add a Benchmade to my collection, (my EDC is a ZT), and I've been looking at the 950 Rift. Anybody have that model?
>>
>>29307730

Get a 940. I didn't like the way it felt in the hand (too many sharp edges) and the axis lock with the blade felt slow. The 940 is much lighter, faster, not to mention easier to carry and use. The blade shape is very nice though, I have to say.
>>
>>29307812

also forgot the better blade steel in the 940 for slightly more money.
>>
>>29307880
Chalky and small feel in hand tbqh.

What does /k/ think of the Megumi?
>>
>>29307903

sure it feels small but it carries small. If I want a beefy blade I'd carry my ZT. you get so much blade for the handle size as well. as for the chalky feel, idk buy aftermarket scales or upgrade to the 940-1
>>
>>29307932

I think it looks tacky. expensive for a standard axis lock S30V benchmade. reviews are good though.
>>
>>29307234

It depends. If you're getting their basic 8Cr13MoV, just skip the middle man and get a Sanrenmu for half the price.

>Reversible thumb stud, are you left handed?
>>
>>29308017
Not that anon, but it's not so much that it's reversible as that thumb studs should be rounded and symmetrical.

I like the fact that it's reversible and adjustable plus backlock, being left handed can really limit your choice of knives.
>>
>>29308164
As stated before, it's not that it's reversible, they should have used an Allen or torx head screw instead of a slotted one
>>
>>29308352
Why? the thumb stud is significantly more rounded than the usual torx stud and I always have mine adjusted offset so the symmetrical bit is already out, plus you've always got a screwdriver handy, I don't know anyway that carries torx bits. is it just an OCD annoyance?
