I like your collection. Hard to say if/what I'd add to it. Right now the only thing I really want is the 81. Sort of want a type 97 but for the quality of the gun I think I'd just be better off getting a bunch of ammo instead for something else.

I really like that AR.
>>
>>29281031
The type 97 is super fun but it would seem alot of people outright hate it. The controls suck but still its not a deal breaker. I would wait for the chinese flattop version to show up.
>>
>>29281060
I really like it, aesthetically. Ergonomically I could learn to deal with the weird layout. I just don't really want to dump the money on another 5.56 rifle especially if/when there are better versions coming.

Oh, well, at least Type 97s are NR and would be solid for HD-I can't believe how short it was. It was almost exactly the same OAL as his Vz.58 with the stock folded.
>>
>>29282277
IMO type 97 is way more fun than my norinco AR but I'm the kind of person that bought an AR for the sake of having one.
>>
>>29282318
I like ARs, don't get me wrong. But my best HD gun is my Skorpion right now, so I want my next gun to be a bit better suited for that role. An AR is perfectly good for HD, but the 97 was comfortable and surprisingly compact. And it's Non-Restricted.

>>
>>29283057
Who knows, not like they'd have a record of my stuff anyways. Bought it in Ontario after the LGR was killed. I just have to hide if they do try and door to door this shit.
>>
>>29282543
The law won't have criminal bite. The registration rate will be extremely low, the cost extremely high. We'll see expensive PSAs and ads paid by Rathjen, Cukier and co to try and guilt the populace into registering. People won't care. As for buying guns, just go to Ontario, NB or Labrador. They won't call the SQ; hell, they didn't when the LGR still applied to Quebec.
>>
>>29283162
I think the fine is $500 for the first time, increases from there. It's not going to have very high compliance, if any, and they'll tout it as though they got every gun, while running the guilt programs you mentioned to try and get more registrations.
>>
>>29283193
Guilt who? Who is going to feel guilty about this? The bad people they claim this shit will stop? oh, right, they never cared about licensing, registration, let alone laws or human decency before, surely a sappy campaign ad will change it.

Cukier and Rathjen should fucking die already, how old are they now?
>>
>>29280842
>>BIll C-246 Modernizing Animal Protections(Hunting - More strict measures against hunters/trappers) Act Status: Introduced
>More strict measures against hunters/trappers
See, after reading this bill, I'm starting to think that /k/ just automatically assumes that any legal issue related to guns is automatically bad for us, and acts like complete retards in regards.

Did anyone even read this? The entire bill is about the rules concerning animal cruelty (ie: poison is bad, fighting is bad, bestiality is bad, all the other common sense shit, etc.). The only things that affect hunters are some bits about animal skins/furs, and shark fins.

I swear, you guys are such knee-jerk idiots sometimes.
>>
>>29283219
>how old are they now?
Not old enough. Rathjen "survived" the Polytech shooting (by not being anywhere near it) when she was enrolled there. So probably around 45. Dunno about Cucker.
>>
>>29281010
get a vz you fag how do you not have one already?

>>29281060
If you put the upgraded lower handguard on the type 97 it fixes absolutely every ergonomic problem. Great mag release, awesome safety and an unreal trigger, like better than most ARs
>>
>>29283219
Well, if they are careless in the way the ads are done (which is very likely), they can lose a lot of credibility or at least, visibility. If people don't like the message of an ad, they change channels when they see it start, just like those Safety Nazi (CSST) or SAAQ (QC's DMV) ads that would not be out of place on BestGore.
>>
>>29283263
Even if it doesn't directly affect hunters now, inaction is still not the answer. Let one thing slide, and you set precedents that allow other things to move on by.
>>
>>29283263
>Bestiality is bad
So we can't extract the perfect deer lure then?
>>
>>29283265
Actually, we'd need people like Claude Colgan (brother of Helene) in an ad calling those "survivors" on that. Without mentioning anything pro-gun, just have them say that an LGR would not have saved anyone from the sexually frustated mysoginist that was the Polytechnique shooter.
>>

Source: Toronto Sportsman's Show apparently has a Tactical Imports booth and those guys brought in the only copy of the Type 81 in the country at this time (it is the prototype that got the approval from the lab).
Show started today, but it turns out everyone on cgn who claimed to have gone there just to fingerfuck /k/anada's newest waifu, had also forgot their camera at home
>this is why, pictures tomorrow and probably more over the weekend

Picrelated is the only pic so far that some dude evidently took half-assedly with a potato.

The info so far is:

NR models confirmed
Barrel and gas system are chrome lined
Both stocks will be available
Fixed stock is going to be wood
Folding stock should be metal/polymer as per original.
The finish from the prototype wood will be improved. Stamping was done after finish on prototype, so looks a bit rough. Not going to be on final production models.
Prototype model also doesn't have barrel ribs, but final models should have ribs
>ribbed for your pleasure, as in >>29286824
Mags will be 5/30 not 5/5 as the prototype

Lastly, TacImp is saying they bought one AK mag and it didn't fit, they think they need to grind some on it to make it fit, will update
>not clear if it's a problem specific to that mag type/brand or if T81 won't take AK mags, which would be surprising

oh and the rumor is that they will start taking preorders next week and the projected price is $999 maple pesos, but that is from 3rd hands, not confirmed

also, what's even more exciting is that if Type 81 was approved as NR, there is really very little chance that her bigger voluptuous .308 sister will be rejected (since, it's literally just an upscaled version of T81 with modernized furniture)

$999 is what people are saying Tactical Imports told them and so far the company just added more details and did not deny those claims, so chances are good it is a grand

it's not exactly an expensive rifle for them to buy, I bet it will be marked down to $850 or lower at some point.
>Type 97 is going for less than a grand now and it's a more modern, scary black bullpup, likely costing more from factory to the dealer than what is essentially a better designed stamped SKS-D, which required no retooling or adjustments like T97 did from QBZ95

initially they said it was going to be $2,000 and it was listed on their site for a short period of time until they realised: A) it was not going to be as soon as they hoped and B) nobody in their right mind, but a few determined collectors would pay 2 Gs for a T81
>they thought they were going to be the only game in town, so they marked it up through the nose, but now a few other dealers are confirmed, so competition brings price down
they are kind of shit that way, how they decided to charge nearly $3,000 for a Chilean made Swiss Arms clone

- The Type 81 is 7.62x39. TI is in early (very early) talks of producing a future edition in 5.45x39. That would add a nice option for it in Canada.
- The Type 81 will be available in Non-Restricted Class only for now. The LMG version and under-folder will not be in the first import. It will be a future option.
- The first batch will be in customers hands Q3 2016.
- There will be 1000 units imported. 500 Folders, 500 Fixed stock.
- Serial number range will presumably start as 160001-161000.
- Wood will be a lighter stained wood, with visible wood grain texture. The sample one has a painted wood, but it will not be available.
- Metal finish is grey parkerized, with some blued parts. Not the full blued version, such the US ones.
- They will have chrome barrels, chrome bores, chrome gas system.
- Trigger seemed nice and crisp.
- Gas system is adjustable, and can be turned with the head of a cartridge case.
- Safety is on receiver, and has a indicator click when put into "Safe" or "Fire."
- Sights are adjustable.
- Barrel will have extra ribs/rings not pictured in this model, for the rifle grenades.

Fuck, closest one is two hours away but pretty cheap $50. Is it worth it?

Why are there not anymore groups in Canada that allow you to join a group for a soul purpose of preventing this from happening?
I remember there was one in Edmonton years ago you could join no matter where you lived and it saved you the issue of getting a range membership anywhere in Alberta. Basically a universal range membership.
>>
>>29291132
Silvercore in B.C is $30 per year. However, the RCMP hate you, so will only issue ATTs to that range, the CFO's office told me. That being said, you could buy the "membership" and just shoot your Restricteds innawoods.

NR guns are legal on crown (public) land unless otherwise posted. Private land is also legal, if there is enough land and you have permission from the landholder.

>>
>>29294633
As long as it's NR and you're for sure on crown land and at least 100m from a highway, there shouldn't be any issues. Although some regions only allow hunting with shotguns, bows, etc, so using anything other than the aforementioned stuff might net you in trouble. Though I honestly have never heard of this happening to anyone so that may be a moot observation.

I'm sure there are exact measurements out there, but I don't know them. It's a bit of a judgement call. Needs to be away from a highway or building. Needs to be shooting away from a highway or building. Should have a backstop of some sort.

Im working on the waivers for the meetup and will be sending it out soon. Please bring a signed copy with you to the check in table. Ill be riding to the event with my mom and aunt. They will be helping with the setup, registration and security. The important thing to remember is that any guns brought to the meet will be given to a safety officer for storage. My aunt and her state police boyfriend will be providing this service as all as being range officers.

When you want to shoot, just come to the security booth and check out the gun. An range officer wil escort you to the firing line.
Please keep 3 seconds between shots. No rapid fire.
I look forward to meeting you all. I wil be brining smores supplies (marshmellow, gram cracker, chocolate bar) so if you want to bring food to share that’s cool. Maybe weeners or hamborgs.

I saw an interesting thread on CGN talking about the state of the firearms industry in Canada. One thing that stood out to me was when they talked about Beretta. It seems that since the embargo on Russia, Beretta hasn't been able to sell there, so they've been selling the firearms in their other markets. That's why we're seeing more Beretta firearms on the shelves.

Beretta admits they had under-served the Canadian market. Now they're actually stocking the amount they should have in the first place. As for the prices, unfortunately the dollar is still a factor (at least it's a bit better now as the US dollar has floated lower).

I don't know if other firearms manufacturers were affected as heavily by the Russian embargo. If it gets lifted, I guess we'll see fewer Beretta products.

>>29298518
What specific rifle are you looking for? Most stores in Canada have their own specialties, but tend to keep a decent supply of other types.

On that thread the OP (a CGN sponsor) said that Stoeger Canada is revamping their support system entirely. They've even built a range in the basement of their warehouse to test guns after servicing.

I'm hopeful it's a sign that we'll see improvement.
>>
>>29280897
Do you guys think we should do a protest?
Most people who are for the registry don't even know about the serial number retardation
Maybe if we did it we could raise awareness on that and it would lose support
>>
>>29300220
They don't really care. It's justified because it's more gun control. Anything is justified as long as it's anti gun somehow.
>>
>>29300220
>serial number retardation
I'm getting worried about P&S Guns and Militaria. I hope they think about moving their stock out of province before the law takes effect. I'd hate to see all that classic milsurp defaced.
>>
>>29300229
well
when I told my grabber friends, they seemed to be strongly against defacing historical pieces
so there might be a chance
>>
>>29300491
Did you mention most guns, barring extremely old ones, already have serial numbers?
>>
frog here, red pill me on this registry shit

literally everybody here thinks it was the best thing ever and that Harper is a turbo cunt for abolishing it

yet I wonder if there really was any use to it at all. getting conflicting evidence wherever I look
>>
>>29300569
During the court cases over it's abolishment police admitted they never used it to solve any crime. It was accessed a lot while it was federal, but literally only because it was accessed automatically. It never really worked like it was supposed, and is still used as an example of how not to do databases. Overall it cost millions more than it was supposed to and never solved or prevented crime, and was an invasion of privacy.
>>
>>29300502
yes
basically the consensus was
"I'm for the registry but not how they do it"
>>
>>29300609
>as an example of how not to do databases
Protip: don't use serial numbers as your primary key
>>
>>29300910
Again, how would it help? It doesn't prevent theft in any way. It doesn't prevent crime. During the existence of the federal one, it never solved any crime. It's a money sink and an invasion of privacy.

Is an AR-15 lower considered a firearm in Canada? Does it need to be locked up? What about the upper?
>>
>>29301158

Yes it IS the firearm.
It has to be in a case because its restricted IIRC, but doesnt need a trigger lock since it has no firing pin
>>
>>29300924
haha what the fuck, seriously?

man someday I hope I can get a job working for the gubmint writing abysmal code for 70k a year + benefits

I want to build a clone of the AR-15 A2 with A2 parts obviously, upper and lower, hand guard, stock and fixed carrying handle. Which stores or websites should I start looking at for these parts?

amazing how brand new rifles with combloc features are 2000 cheaper than rifles with nato features. Must be because they come with rails. You'd never know it, but each inch of picatinny rail costs anywhere from 75 to 200 dollars. True story.

I blame operator fetishists. There's no reason that China and Czech republic can deliver rifles for ~1000 and USA, Isreal and Italy can't.

This post reads like an underage sheltered suburban white kid wrote it, and it makes me salty for some reason.
>My mom will drive me out

>Then we can escort you over, ok?
>No fast shooting, m'kay
>I'm bringing snackies, my mom said it was ok
Fuck off.

>An range officer wil escort you to the firing line

Are you fucking serious?...
They guy plowing your aunt will hold my hand to the firing range and then have a stopwatch to time my shots to ensure I don't shoot too fast?
This is more strict than ALL of my local indoor ranges
Get fucked, faggot

Keep in mind you're paying a premium for being Canadian. In Burgerstan the ARX, XCR, and CZ are right around the same price. The real premium is paid on the SCAR but that's its own thing.

The original run of the Type 97, with this type of foregrip/trigger guard, was banned because of the trigger group, correct? But would it be illegal to see if I can find the outer shell that looks like this and slap it on a new, legal 97? I can't get over how perfect it looks, and apparently the similar K-12 Puma lower won't work.

You probably can't desu
I doubt they produce it at all for the civilian Can market.
And you'll never get a military lower even if its just a shell
>>

Best bet would be a custom made one. t97.ca might eventually make one, but you'll have to wait for that. I know they have an upgraded lower though.

Sorry I meant to say that Norinco probably wouldn't make one if asked. They are very much the epitome of "bulk dealers" as with most Chinese businesses. Shoot off an email to CA over it, they're usually great to respond quickly.

I've never had trouble ordering from Ammosupply.ca, Frontier Firearms or Canadaammo. I ordered from Cabelas and they did eventually ship my order, but they took a long time, and they also claimed something was in stock when in reality it was backordered (again, they shipped eventually).

Depends what you want
Short barrel robs the round of its velocity and all that unburnt powder translates into muzzle flash
Round is less effective but its not like you're going to be precision shooting with it or using it to defend your life.
I'd go at least 10"+
the short barrel looks disproportionate with the stock fully extended
