Well I'm 18 and my parent didn't own or like guns, so I never really had any exposure until recently. A friend of mine showed me his collection and let me shoot a few .22s.
He had a bunch of other bolt action rifles sitting around that didn't work, but I thought they were the coolest things.
So I just want to learn what are good guns, bad gun, how to tell and such.

To really understand firearms, go to a range and practice try shooting a variety of guns. Try a revolver, a pistol, a pump shotgun, a semi-auto shotgun, a bolt action rifle, and semi automatic rifle, soak it all up.

Unless you're full autismo, just approach the instructor before the class, tell him you're a complete noob, and need some extra help getting started. He may go full fudd on you and tell that iron and wood are the only viable options, but at least you'll have *an* opinion to work with.

People can't even read a condensed article and pay enough attention to actually retain anything. I guess the sticky is outdated since it doesn't come with worksheets after every paragraph that basically makes you paraphrase what you just read until you understand what you should have grasped the first time.
It's concerning that people buying firearms can't even read a fucking wiki that includes a 40 minute video made by the military to teach wheat farmers and Irish/Italian immigrants exactly how their firearm works.
Do the work or don't complain when you don't understand, don't act like /k/ has wronged you by not dropping everything to spoon feed you information.

I have, it's pretty cool actually. They have a oversized model of a firearm in its simplest form (basically a tube with a firing pin) and build up around it.
They even get into automatic function, both with a gas tube and blowback operation. I might watch a little of it again today, it's a pretty cozy video.
