So, whats the state of mercenaries today? It seems like 50% of Africa's population in the 60's and 70's was made up of them, and looking at American gun culture of the 80's up to the Clinton AWB was fairly heavily focused on the "aviators and black jackets" crowd of operators.

But aside from the occasional passing mention Blackwater (which is an organized group, not individual mercs), it seems like Guns-for-Hire are a dead breed, is that true or am I just living under a rock?

I remember watching a show about this Mercenary group in Africa and they where better equipped than most of the governments around there, and at one point they just said fuck it and started duking it out with one of the Local Governments just because they could.
