Does anyone have any idea what this gun is?
There's no numbers or letters on it besides "Colt" and an engraving of the Colt logo.
Grandfather passed it down to me before he died

Not sure, there was no ammo with it and it has no marking anywhere on the gun that would indicate the caliber it uses

I cant find any pictures online that look identical though. Every other similar revolver has a different grip
take it to a gunsmith and have him check it out if you don't even know the caliber a pic is not going to help you, a smith will be able to tell you caliber and model

Looks like an Official police that has been shortened. The Official Police logo would have been cut off when the barrel was shortened.

Nope. I think I'm wrong. Looking at the frame and the trigger guard it looks like Police Positive. Smaller frame than Official Police
