He was there to deliver the news that they were delaying orders - the thought of not getting as many extremely powerful fighters made him faint.

More like he was in such awe of the F-35's multirole capabilities that his brain needed to reboot just to make sense of it all.

F-35 is a bloody Jewish conspiracy!

The whole fucking reason it's being shoved at us so hard is because of the damn VTOL version.

And the whole reason why all this shit is being done for that one variant is because Israel is gonna want a carrier, but what could they actually conceivably have? A little country like Israel, even a subsidized militant one, would be overwhelmed by a monstrous full size carrier. So they'll just want one of those miniature compact ones, like those that only carry choppers normally.

Just open your eyes and think about it, who is this going to benefit? Will it benefit the US? No, it'll benefit the governments of countries like Japan, Israel, Egypt, Korea, Germany and maybe Poland and Mexico, eager to get a minimal share of the aircraft carrier capability.

Meanwhile, everyone's getting completely sidetracked, squabbling about the F-35A, as if it's even actually fucking relevant!

The fact that Sprey hates it ought to be a ringing endorsement. He hates the F-15, the most successful Air Superiority fighter of the modern era, for instance.

People just don't understand that new technology is more expensive and takes longer to develop and test. The Sopwith Camel probably took like $100 and a few months to design.
>>
>>28879800
>Implying that's the reason at all

No it's this designed by committee mentality, with an absolute spaghetti mess of hierarchy.

The introduction of a vast amount of red tape and dumb politics into an already moronic system just completely destroys any chance of meaningful progress.

The Chinese could've developed something twice as good, in half the time with a quarter of the budget.
Why? Because communism.

Enjoy free market capitalism, Amerifats.
>>
>>28879800
wouldn't it be better to have a good functional fighter instead of investing into something that can't even fly?

He used to call the F-15 a "too heavy, too expensive, too complicated" and "turkey"

He now says the same thing about the F-35.

lol should be a great plane.
>>
>>28879824
what are you talking about? The F-35 is beginning to be deployed to the marines, and the air force will get their first ones this year. It has gone through extensive flight testing.
>>
>>28878327
>F-15, the most successful Air Superiority fighter of the modern era

While a really good plane, the Eagle's remarkable combat record is only this good cz it was used against outdated planes 1-2 generation behind piloted by poorly trained pilots.

Killing 40+ year old Mig-21s with a state of the art F15 is like the lion bragging about defeating a common housecat.

Russian and Chinese long range SAMs would down them by the fucking DOZENs...I'm not saying hundreds cz to my knowledge the number of F15s hardly excesses 1000, all variants considered.

Btw, how been F15s have been made? All users and countries included? My number would be about one thousand, give or take some.
>>
>>28881261
well, here's the thing. That's no different of a record than any other modern jet. The F/A-18, F-16, Su-27, MiG-29, etc etc. have all faced the same threats: out of date planes fielded by lesser-trained airforces.

So the comparison is still equal. The F-15 still has an amazing combat record.
>>
>>28881270
>The F-15 still has an amazing combat record.
Well it would be a really terrible commercial for it if it didn't have a spotless reputation.

Just look at the F117s case...I Night Hawk gets shot down by a 30+ year old SAM system and the US scraps the entire fleet...
>>
>>28881315
well, that case was a case of bad tactics, no fault of the airframe. The F-117 flew the same route for like 2-3 days, and didn't have the sensors to detect a radar lock/launch. The SAM operators noticed it flying the same route and waited for it.

In Gulf War, the F-117 performed great at doing medium altitude strikes on Iraqi military targets and command targets, even around Baghdad where the air defenses were heavy.

Same route daily for weeks, bomb bay door was open, the SAM crew broke doctrine and tried for an extra lock...
>>
>>28881315

F-22 does everything F-117 does but better, and it can do much more, and it isn't even drastically more expensive.

And thus the F-117 was taken out of service.

Stealth aircraft was a fast advancing field, and like most "first anythings" F-117 was retired fast when more capable platforms popped up soon after. See the Mk1 tank and HMS Dreadnaught.
>>
Someone should make a video of him being asked questions about how effective stealth is and how bugged the F-35 is.

Why? Because communism.

Then why haven't they?
>>
>>28882000
Or look at the number and type of fighters fielded by the U.S. from 1950 to 1980 as compared from 1990 to today. Aviation tech reached a plateau in the late 1970's and improvements have been relatively small since.
>>
>>28876397
Except the Russians used a Convair (iirc) design from the 60s.

But that doesn't fit the narrative :^)

>The Chinese could've developed something twice as good, in half the time with a quarter of the budget.
Pray, tell, then, why they didn't and still haven't gotten a VLO manned 5th gen aircraft into service. Or even the Russians for that matter. Or anyone else.

Meanwhile, the US has had operational VLO aircraft since 1983. The US manned stealth fleet alone is larger by itself than all but the biggest military players on the planet. Think about that for a minute.
