Would you reccomend it? I'm 22, not a retard, and have an associates degree and a very low level state government job making 10 dollars an hour. I think I'd want to do 4 years then go back to school.

It's a good place to be. It's pretty lax and an easy living for the most part. Navy would be a close #2.
I did my four years, saved up 40 grand. That opened some doors that were otherwise shut without a 4 year degree. Now I'm doing what I love and own my own business.

They're not as nice as BDUs. I'm an aircraft mechanic and these show dirt and hydraulic fluid stains much more. BDUs actually camouflaged to shit.

BDUs were comfortable more than these

>>
>>28705901
That's too bad. I really did like my BDUs and how they looked.
I was in intel, so I wasn't dealing with fluids and greasing things so it didn't really matter in that regard.
The comfort thing would bug the crap out of me though.

I guess they must have pushed back the deadline to wear them.
It was a mismatch of BDUs and whatever they called the new ones for about year before I got out. By the end, just about everyone had the new ones. I would have too if I wasn't getting out.

Or towing an aircraft , or removing a cowl door or refueling the mission bird soaked from a rain storm or cooking outside in the humid ass summer heat for 12 hours. i got in A1C but put on SrA in the pipeline. Very rare coming from basic and youll basically be restricted to the guy who loads the guns in gunships/ NGAvs. imagine the guys in tanks that dont shoot the guns. but in a plane

Air force living is really good, anyone saying otherwise is jsut at a bad base/shop. maintainence sucks but theres alot of commradeire for sure.

>>
>>28707305
Yes, extremely. PJ indoc is basically the hardest in the armed forces, you are doing THE most physically difficult program in the armed forces while simultaneously doing SOCM. CCT and SOWT are easier but still have steep washout rates of like 60-70%, I think TACP is just over 50%. SERE is like 75% washout I think and it's not even special ops, it's a regular enlisted job.

God damn it.

To the fucking ghetto ass airport. It took me like 4 hours but I didn't give a fuck I am free now. I'm going to take in the ghetto and love every minute.

I also got reaaally drunk at the little mexican shithole restaurant at San Antonio airport.
It was glorious.

Depends on airframe. Some fighters are stationed overseas, c-5s and c17s fly from state side locations to theater in back in about four day missions. Fighter jets deploy as a squadron, generally like six months states side in someplace like Luke or Davis Mothan then go to a base over seas for deployment. Tankers deploy to the deed. (Al udeid)

There's different shops within the career field, but the most prominent one would probably be Conventional Maintenance (shop I'm currently in). You'll build and maintain munitions to support the flight line and it's needs. Along with everyone else on base who needs munitions such us cops and EOD.

What you build and how much you work depends on what aircraft the base you're stationed at flies.

tl;dr
>make bombs
>maintain/store/account for all munitions on base
>alcoholism
>hua

If you have questions about it feel free to ask.

Same guy, when I went through prior service guys were put on the osprey and hh60. I don't think that you can be put on a gunship. You fill out a dream sheet for aircraft preference and base but its really the needs of the air force. There's NSAv too which pays well because of all the per diem you get.

I just hit my two year mark on the 14th of this month, and I have been in pipeline status the entire time, and I have a year left to go before I can go to my operational squadron. I am a 1A8x1 so you can't ask me everything ;)
>>
>>28709620
Same 1a9 guy that's been responding to anons. If you want work in aircraft and do cool shit, go 1a9. For tech school you'll go to lackland for about 2 months of 3 level school, then SERE after that, and then whatever base you get trained on your airframe. Gunships go to either hurlburt or cannon, but the pipeline for cannon was backed up when I went through so all of the non priors went to hurlburt. Ospreys go to Kirkland for airframe training I believe and hh60s go to either ft rucker or moody, I don't remember. They moved the TACP school house to lackland as well, I don't know how their training is aside from being physically demanding obviously. My old man was a TACP and he really enjoyed it, he was deployed quite a bit, but you'll be deployed a lot as a 1a9 as well. 1a9 is still a developing career field and I'm sure some other niches will find their way in like NSAv did. I don't know what the training is like for NSAv, but you get a shit load of per diem and you can get out and work for L3 and make a lot of money. The 1a9 instructors are good too. Sgt Bossy is the coolest kid I know
>>
>>28709620
Went to sere with a guy in tacp. He was in the battlfield airmen element, and he had only been in a year and was finished with school, so if you want "easy" special operations tech training, tacp is the way to go.

Friendly advice: The Air Force has no morale or Camaraderie. If you are looking for the closest thing however, hang out at the smoke pit at work. Smoke, dip, hell just hang out with everybody there and it'll be the closest to morale you'll come in the Air Force. Just don't vape, fuck those faggots

ATC here.

I enjoy looking down on you maintainer plebs from my A/C equipped tower as you do your FOD checks when its 100+ degrees out.

Y'all are there when I show up, and you're there when go home after my 6 hour shift because I get late ins/early outs because I'm a 5 level and getting a 5 level on ATC isn't just passing a fucking test.

There is a reason we don't get our badges until you complete OJT. Shits tough. Most people washout and get to explain to their friends why they aren't in the air force anymore.

Oh and the FAA has a manning crisis so half of the people at my work already have jobs lined up for the second they get out. 6 figure job as a 24 year old with 0 college? Sign me the fuck up senpai

McChord and Eglin were cool, with great areas around them. (grew up there)
Lackland fucking sucked (summer BMT)
