Salients price or design isn't the issue... At the moment they are currently hemorrhaging as a company. People who actually spend money with them have been continually fucked around, and haven't gotten product that has been paid for at least a year. Many people are moving on to some of the aftermarket companies that actually provide some level of service.
They still take in money while not delivering product, and have pissed of quite a few customers, especially in the last two months. It looks like now they are leaning on other companies help them survive. While I'm not surprised MAC did a video for them, I am disappointed. From what he said, it appears that he was lied to as much as everyone else.

salient's execution is different from the other companies whose blast devices mainly work like a suppressor and QD based on that. surefire and griffin in particular latch onto the same parts that compatible suppressors would latch onto. since no one has salient's in hand (it was actually announced last year) there isn't any use cases to speak of yet.
the point is to have one device when you want it and the covered device when you need less concussion/noise (ie indoors, a shoot house, or other enclosed space). muzzle brakes/compensators tend to get loud.

Salient is honestly better as a design place than as an actual manufacturer. what they should have done is get someone else who is actually established to do their machine manufacturing and assemble things in house. actually, that might be what they have going but didn't have enough money to work with an OEM to bring things out timely. from experience OEMs will bump you if a bigger fish comes along with bigger pockets.
if they are indeed bringing things together to be in-house manufacturing then that means they would cut out the middleman and not have to pay someone else to do work but also means that the burden of work is on them
as far as working on other people's glocks and stuff goes, that's a whole different ballgame and they should not be as slow as they are unless they took so many orders for the money that they can't keep up.
