Thoughts on face shields integrated into helmets? While yes goggles do the same thing, perhaps a faceplate with a low ballistic rating and simple dust filters that seal around your face could be useful inna desert/breaching/etc. post examples real or imagined

They stop bullets from hitting you in the face in CQB situations.
Getting hit in the face with a bullet sucks.
Also, with automatic weapons going off in confined spaces stuff like plaster, concrete ect. starts to get pretty ballistic.
The ballistic glass ones that mount to a helmet are the best, but looking through 3/4" of glass tends to distort your vision quite a bit. The metal Russian ones are heavy as fuck and super hot and have awful tunnel vision, but provide the best protection. The kevlar hockey masks are the lightest and most comfortable but have no eye protection.

Congratulations, even the people who think up the guns for Call of Duty can solve problems related to making guns work with new equipment better than you can. You simply lower the cheekrest of the stock accordingly while keeping the back of the stock the same so the recoil is still directed straight back. Also, companies already make mandible guards with optional pads made of gripy material so one could get a decent cheekweld on a stock without it sliding around every time the gun recoils.

There's a reason face shields are seen raised up I'm almost all photos you see. Impeding your vision, communication and ability to accurately engage your weapon is not conducive to surviving and thriving during a gunfight. Next question.

Technology is changing, fully armored helmets are becoming a thing and armor's just getting thinner and thinner these days. Saying "NAH NOPE" to this doesn't help anything, what you should be saying is "yeah but that's clunky bullshit, you need to make it better." This is the way individual protection is going to go, it's happened through every other iteration of body armor throughout history and it'll happen again.

Do we really need to give infantry even more weight on their kit? Your average grunt is already lugging around almost 100 lbs of equipment these days, and even a faceguard that would somehow be able to stop both intermediate rifle rounds and fragments (are there any that can even do this?) still would not protect you from the actual concussive force of an explosion if you were too close.

If the helmet's not fully secured even a mak round can knock it off your head and knock you on your ass if you didn't brace beforehand. Not to mention it's heavy, suffocating, humid and obscuring your peripheral vision. One good thing is that it'll save your eyes from getting fucked up from thick smoke or shrapnel during CQB
