I think the olympics were on at the time, and they were considering singing Canada's national anthem in Hindi. Obviously, that sounds ridiculous, and the petition's heart was in the right place. I've contemplated buying a "ladies" version of certain firearms, simply because they're pink or purple. The only reason I haven't done it yet is because the way they mark up the prices is absurd.

Apart from getting a PAL, what does a newbie European to Canada have to do to get a rifle? Basic shooting on a range, building up to hunting, building up to a restricted license.

If you can, apply directly for RPAL, it'll save you time and money. Depending on where you live, you may have access to Crown Land you can shoot NR guns on. Also if you aren't a Canadian Citizen you will need a letter of good standing from your local PD.
