I just picked up my first AK platform today. A RAS 47 by Century arms. What are some mods that k recommends? The only one I think i would need is a Nato length wood stock as the Warsaw style one is a little short for me. I have plans to use this as a pig stick or brush gun. Any advice?
>>28598334
Post its guts!
theres a pic of it in better light. Would I have been better off with a WASR?
>>28598407
That's what I'm trying to determine. Post more pics. Wipe your lens off
>>28598354
give me a sec
>>28598407
Better off with a rifle that has a chrome lined bore and parts that weren't cast in Korea? Probably.
>>28598334
You done fucked up how much you pay ?
>>28598484
way too much. Im out here in california so anyone who has these things charges out the ass for them. ill be buying my next online for sure. im out around 900
>>28598523
>$900
>RAS-47
Holy Christ no
>>28598533
They dont carry those evil assult wepuns out here for under 800. m&p ar15s are selling for around 1200. you couldnt get one for under a grand unless you ordered online
>>28598523
Shit bro I would have contacted a az bro and bought a nicer rifle at jandg for less
>pic related my wasr I paid 630otd last month
>>28598334

>>28598523
> $900
Ouch. Well, hopefully you'll get your money's worth for the rifle. How does it shoot?
As for the stock, NATO length is nice, but you can just buy a butt pad as well. Assuming the side mount is Warsaw Pact (is that still the correct term?) standard, get a nice side mount and a red dot or 1-4x optic.
Also, I like the Serbian surplus bolt hold open mags, but that's just me.
>>28598615
the next rifle i buy ill be purchasing online and having them send it to a dealer out here
>>28598523
>im out around 900
Anon, that's a $500-550 rifle......
>>28598523

>>28598643
i do plan to put on a small scope. ive still got to do my homework for it. ive got till next year to figure it out for the pigs. i plan to play around with the coyotes in nevada untill then
>>28598685
>kalifornia man
That doesn't explain why it's selling for almost double its actual value.
What makes California any different anyway? They have to clamp a bullet button to it? That's it, right?
Is there just a dearth of gun stores, and they're all run by the jewiest jews that ever jewed?
This doesn't make sense.
>>28598685
> Rails
Do you mean on the hand guards, for something like a flash light? Go light then, anon. It's already a front-heavy rifle.
Also, do not go with shit ammo if you're planning on hunting hogs. Find a good soft point or polymer tip that groups well and expands reliably. Too much of the soviet SP/HP doesn't expand worth a damn.
>>28598778
its just happy merchants trying to merchant.
everyone is going crazy buying the guns while they can before this glorious state throws out the bands. when i got the rifle the owner of the store told me i was the fifth person he sold that same rifle to. theyre just flying off the shelves.
supply and demand man. they cant get them in fast enough
>>28598763
Will you be hunting at dawn/dusk? If so, get something with a lit reticle.
How's your eyesight? If it's still pretty good, nearly any 1-4x is fine. If not, Primary Arms has a 1-6x that's not priced equivalent to highway robbery.
>>28598798
i meant the railed side mounts for optics above the receiver. im thinking about swaping out the grips and stock for one of the plastic ones just to make it lighter, ill have to take it out a few times before i make that call, see if its worth losing the weight, my grillfriend has already complained that its too heavy for her
>>28598843
how are those lit ridicules at night? theyre adjustable right? i can imagine my self buying optics that outshine everything else in the darkness
>>28598945
I've never seen one without an adjustment dial yet.
>>28598523
Jesus. I paid 550.
>>28598558
Couldn't you have at least gotten a WASR?
>>28599257
you also probably dont have a stupid as fuck bullet button or 10 round mag limits
>>28599270
they had yugo m70s with cheap thumb hole stocks and gritty feeling plastic forgrips, id have to order a wasr online
>>28599352
You should've just waited and got a WASR, I picked up a 10/63 up at knob creek a in 2014 with 10 steel mags and 2 spam cans of red army standard ammo for less then what you paid.
>>28599352

>>28599352
Sorry fellow Kalibro, I am North LA bro, I ordered a WASR and I was out maybe 650 after everything was said and done, you should have just ordered from Atlantic. I hope its more accurate than my WASR, but I understand its not really going to compete with my AR that I spent twice as much on. Myself I haven't picked any accessories up for it yet, but I kinda like the Fagpul stock myself don't know if I'd go with that hand guard though.
>>28599352
I've actually never seen a bullet button or pinned mags. How permanent are the modifications?
>>28598523
>900 for that
Bro I got my vepr for 600 not too long ago, holy shit you're being jewed in that state. Why not move to the US? It's not too far away! I mean if those Syrians migrants can come all the way from yemen and iraq you can too!
>>28599444
its only been hunting rifles, shotguns and truck headlights here. i havent had a need for any milsurp gear, i still dont have a need for it.
just trying new stuff i dont know alot about mang
>>28599492
Not that bad, you could drill bullet button with relative ease. Maybe 5 minutes and a 1/16th bit.
>>28599535
>redicules
its reticles dumbass
i dont know what i expected from someone who'd pay double for a piece of shit rifle
>>28599492
bullet button is held on with 5 allen key screws. less than 3 minutes to take off but the whole felony if im caught says i wont fuck with it unless im over state lines
No one's mentioned the gay ass hat yet?
>>28599607
what the FUCK exactly is a bullet button? Does it lock the mag into the gun so its legal? i never looked into them.
>>28599726
It stops mass murders, that's why murder is higher in areas that force them, duh you dummy! LOL
>>28599726
It makes it so you need a tool (bullet counts as a tool) to release the mag.
>>28599726
ive got that metal piece there blocking my thumb so i cant change mags with out a screwdriver or my car keys to press the release
>>28599748
>>28599758
>>28599807
That's some serious fucking bullshit, I'm actually pretty fucking mad. Cali is fucking cancer I hope it falls into the ocean.
>>28598334
Decent wood won't hurt or you can Re do it. Side rail is best rail for a optic like a red dot or a 7.6 x39 comp. Scope , pin retainer , also a diffrent muzzle device.
Either way mags ammo and drums are the way to go.
>>28599863
All of us feel this way. 562 reporting. Been a gun owner for 5 years now. After 2014, the gun laws in California got absolutely insane. They just introduced a law that would outlaw center fire rifles with detachable magazines just a few days ago. I can't wait to leave this god forsaken hell hole. http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2016/01/foghorn/california-lawmakers-introduce-bill-to-ban-all-centerfire-semi-auto-rifles/
>>28599952
The thing that really makes me asshurt is that stupid laws like that actually exist, I'm scared to think that laws like that might get passed in more states.
>>28599952
What are the odds of that passing?
>>28600003
You and the rest of the union. Buy while you can! I wouldn't be surprised if the 2nd amendment isn't all but neutered for the lower 48 in 20 years. Also, I mean to say "Bill" and "could" instead of "Law" and "would" in my last post.
>>28600042
A similiar bill has been introduced in the past, I believe it happened just after Sandy Hook, but Governor brown didn't sign the proposed bill. How fortunate! Hopefully he does the same thing again.
>>28600062
well it looks like if bill passes tube style magazines will be making a comeback. im praying brown dosent fuck this one up
>>28598407
WASR stands for what a shitty rifle. It's no Arsenal, but it's okay.
>>28598722
>>28598746
This. They're piece of shit rifles that will catastrophically fail on you.

>>28600131
You guys are doing me a slight frighten with all this talk about ak's exploding. I haven't fired my wasr yet and I don't think it will but could I be wrong?
>>28600719
Wasrs are fine, worst they'll do FTF and then split case on you.
>>28599952
I live in CA. I'd that does somehow pass, I guess we will have to get stripper clip-fed ARs, AKs, etc as yet another workaround.
>>28600748
I realize now I shouldn't have prematurely busted my money load on a wasr and just saved up a bit more to get a nicer quality ak and I wouldn't even worry about it. Not to mention I die a little inside everytime I pull the slide back because its such a rough motion.
>>28600719
id bet my face it wont explode if i keep it clean

I don't think it being clean has an effect on a cast barrel trunnion. its inferior to being forged.
