The one I'm looking at is 9x18 Makarov. What's the deal with ultra?
if it malfunctions (FTF, hammer doesn't reset) clean the bolt face, firing pin, firing pin channel, and safety. those are the most critical parts to the weapon functioning properly, in my experience. I was seeing the hammer fail to set after firing ever maybe 50 rounds. all I needed to do was clean the safety. if it's too dirty it tents to slip up and decock the gun.

No, 9x18 is low enough energy to be able to safely use a straight blowback, 9x19 on the other hand is just over that line where you need some type of lockup or some method of retarding the movement of the slide. 9x18 is similar in performance to .380 ACP or .38 Spl though, so while not ideal, it'll still do its job if you need it for self defense.

9x18 Makarov uses a 9.2mm (0.365") bullet. 9x18 Ultra and 9x18 Police use a 9.0mm (0.355") bullet, the same as 9mm Short (.380 ACP), 9mm Long and 9mm Parabellum..

The mag release on the cz82 pissed me off. Also, they are not blued, they are painted, and that wears off fast. Makarov felt better in my hand than the cz82. Hence why I have a mak but not a cz.

I love my Makarov have it now for 10 Years. Great Shooter get youself some stronger Recoilsprings and keep the surface clean from Sweat. And no Keyholing is absoloutley no issue with a Mak. Post a Pic of the Barrel
