Crushed easily by a poleaxe to the face, whereas his spear won't do much to the knight's armor. Viking was the ancient equivalent of today's somali pirates. Kinda scary if you're a bunch of farmers on the coastline, but a guy who spends most of his time farming and then once a year grabs a spear and shield and if he's lucky a helmet would get fucked vs a fully armored and armed knight. Roman was at least a professional soldier (after a certain point in history), but same issues as previous guys. Armor is shit-tier compared to full plate, weapons are shit at killing the knight in full plate.
