Going to have to get into it becasue I was gifted a .38 S&W H&A that is way too much fun to shoot but can't find any .361 moulds, can I just drill out a .358 mould with a .360 bit? Also what is a good price per pound of black powder?

If you're serious, go over to castboolits
http://www.castboolits.gunloads.com/

and then go see NOE
http://noebulletmolds.com/NV/index.php?cPath=35&osCsid=csl00pm182mgms6ml08gqbqi00

I have a .363 mold from NOE I got on a group buy a few years ago for my Webley, haven't had a chance to use it yet but the guy does have a solid rep.

I have no idea, good luck though....
Working on some 223 right now myself

NOE or accurate molds is the best place to get overlarge molds.

Accurate will let you design to your specs and they will make it. Guy is super helpful and friendly.

Here's what I got. It's intended to duplicate the old British Mk1 380/200 load.

And here is the ancient thread on castboolits with a little more info in the first thread post.

Isn't the .38 S&W .361? Does it account for shrinkage?

So I've had a reloading kit for a year now.
Has IMR 4064 become available since all the bs gun scares panic buying powders?
Trying to reload some damn 8mm mauser but I could never find powder.

Just wait until you start reloading glorious blackpowder. Its 10x's as fun IMO.

Just laid down some 7.5 Swiss and 7.7 Arisaka.

Full-length resizing dies on the Arisaka were getting stuck, going to adjust them tomorrow. I believe it's the decapper that is too low (lee die set).

What lube do you use?
Imperial is best

>what is a good price per pound of black powder
About 18 bucks a pound for FFF powder where I am, better prices online but after shipping it's a better deal. Besides that's about 200 rounds of the light loads I use on my Colt so after components it's not that bad..

A lot of the Brit guns run big, and I figured it wouldn't hurt to squish it down a smidge if necessary.

Machinist here and the answer is no, you'll just fuck up the mould. You'd need to ream it and that's not worth it when you can just buy a correct .358 bullet mould.

i have ~40lbs of unprocessed. 223 and 5.56 brass.
is $150 too much to ask for?
>>
>>28399169
If there is already a hole why not just clamp it and ream it out? The cheapest .360 mould is $80 while a Lee aluminum mold is 20 bucks and a reamer is another 20ish. Won't get the cleanest hole at that price but a dowl wrapped in sand paper could get it close enough.
>>
My dad and I were just at our lgs, and we picked up a half full 5 gallon bucket of range brass. Numbers are approximate:

>600 9mm
>250 .40S&W
>100 .45ACP
>10 .44 mag
>20 .44 S&W Spl
>60 .223
>20 .308
>120-140 30-06, mixed surp and commercial
>250 .380

About a third was steel and .22 shells, but I don't think we did too bad.

In order to get a cavity shaped like a bullet you're going to need a "reamer" shaped like a bullet. These are called "cherries" and I don't know of anywhere you might get them, least of all for $20.
Have you ever cast bullets before? You might want to get some experience under your belt before you try anything too ambitious. It can be harder than you might think.
>>
>>28404525
My idea was to get a reamer, clamp a Lee .357 mold, ream out the lube groove with my drill press and have a kind of semi wad cutter bullet
>>
>>28404838
Not who you're replying to, but:

At some point, whatever bullet you mold in this will be fired through your gun. It might save you $80 now, but you could potentially damage your gun and lose a lot more money.
>>
>>28404947
Only way to get experience is via experimentation, though I will be firing this remotely after using calipers to measure final diameter but it really isn't as if black powder loads from a .38 S&W could bot fit inside the chambers and KB a revolver, even a suicide special.
