So should I buy one? CZ supposedly discontinued them, but then did a run of them in 2015. Riflegear has some in "9mm Browning Court". It is Czechnology. Anything wrong with recently made ones? Will I cry bitter tears because it is not a vz 82 and not in 9mm Mak?

My LGS has some in right now and they do great things to my benis but the sights are a bit shitty for a factory fresh product and definitely not worth the $700 (commiefonia) they are asking for.

I'd say get the 83, because I think all you need to convert it to 9mm Mak is a barrel swap and 9mm Mak specific magazines. CZ-83 9mm Mak barrels only cost $100 at the CZ-USA online store.
I'd do a goggle search for the CZ forums and search those forums for a definitive answer on converting an 83 from 9mm Br. short to 9mm Mak first, though.

I bought my 82 in 2008 for $250 when the going price was $200 and I felt ripped off then. I wouldn't pay $700 for an 83 unless it was a gloss blue 83 in 9mm Mak with around 500 rounds of HP 9mm Mak ammo and they also threw in a handie and a BJ.
A Not Makarov with 1000 parts instead of 27.
I think the Czech over thought this one. Like they tend to do.
