Through my extensive (5 minutes of searching) it might be the 2008 version of the Milkor 40 mm grenade launcher. Used for anti-riot purposes, as well as lethal munitions.
It makes sense, Milkor is a South African munitions company, so another African nation using their arms makes sense. This man is dressed for anti-riot duty, he isn't armored with ballistic armor plates, at least not visible ones, he is wearing the shin pads that French police wear.
If his duty was to shoot to kill, he would have a rifle. He doesn't, so his job is to fire deterrant rounds out of a grenade launcher designed for police use, which the Milkor 40 mm is used for in South Africa.
I'm pretty sure I know what it is but I need validation. I'll tell you what movie the screen grab is from after the rifle is identified

No, it is black. The army adopted a black plastic buttstock for the BAR in 1942.

Huh, I never knew that. I didn't realize that plastics as a component of firearms were utilized at any part of ww2

*who's

Can't really tell his job by a photo he is obviously posing for. Nothing says he has all the equipment he is deployed with on him while the pic is taken.
On the contrary really as I see no ammunition on his body, and no means to carry such.
Hell we don't even know if the rifle is his or he borrowed it from someone for the shot.
I have pics from my military service inside a tank or sitting in the pilot spot of an Apachi (he was forced to land due to mechanical failure and we were sent to guard it).
I think you catch my drift.

I don't think it was plastic, but the A2 was a long list of improvements including a redesigned synthetic stock.

MP40s had a bakelite cover for the receiver.

synthetic = polymer = plastic
it's just that plastic has connotations of cheapness and is avoided in advertising
