95% of /k/ will never know the pride and joy of looking at the worn finish of one of their well loved and well used firearms.

I'm okay with "honest wear" but most of the time this isn't the case. Guns often look like crap because the owner didn't keep them dry/oiled. This is frequently the case with knives as well.
And then some people want to call black rust and/or pitting 'patina'.
