They seem VERY similar.
I want a cheap shtf battle rifle so ill feel better while i save up and buy something better.
What do yall think? I love thr sks, but i dont wana pay $350 for a $200 rifle. I see the simplicity of the vz2008 and it reminds me of the sks, but with a threaded barrel. Its also a newer rifle, so i wont be getting some beat all to hell relic.
But sks kicks so much ass. I think that whole slam fire issue is a plus, in heavy combat the pin gets stuck and voila, full auto.

VZ58 (yes, even the 2008) are objective upgrades to the SKS.
You will have autists like Erik come in here and blather about how the SKS is better because it has wood or some shit, but the fact of the matter is the VZ58 does everything the SKS does only better.

You can. But again, 7.62x39 is not a full size cartridge. Battle rifles use full size cartridges.

Battle Rifle is not just some nickname for a rifle carried into battle, it is an actual term for a specific type of rifle.

7.62x39 is an intermediate cartridge. Battle Rifles shoot full power / full size cartridges such as 7.62x51 and .308.

if you can find a decent deal on a VZ, get one. An SKS is just fine. At this point an AK would be better unless you're Canadian, probably cheaper too.
