Y'all have a knife (or fun) that is the benchmark from which you judge other options? For me its my paramilitary 2. I like to weigh the differences between it and any other knife i might buy(pic mine but unrelated)

Hard to say, really. For something I'd pass down to my kids or grandkids, it'd be my special edition Case Marlin. If it was for over all value and an ability to be a work horse, it'd be between my Esee-3 and my Paramilitary 2. And as for EDC blades that go with me every day, it's hard to beat my Benchmade mini-grip or my Izula.

I have more love for my Case Marlin than any of them, but it was also a gift from my father and the most pleasing to look at.

For knives, my Kershaw Leek. For guns, my FNS-9. Have gone through a lot of carry knives and guns and those have become my benchmarks.

Sentiment is hard to benchmark id say

Although this sodbuster is spoiling me in EDC recently

For sure, my Case Marlin is my favorite knife buy I'd have to say my Benchmade mini-grip with a thumb hole and modified sheep's foot blade has been my standard for EDC and pretty much anything I'd put a knife through except for maybe batoning.

I was looking at Sodbuster JRs and Trappers earlier today, I got a gift card and was thinking about picking one of the two up but I can't make up my mind so I'm gonna sleep on it.

Is the esee 3 good for edc?
>>
Yeah, my Paramilitary II as well OP. I love it and I really can't imagine anything better.

Mine is the large and while comfy(love me that handle) it definitely has extra room

But the carbon fiber scales are slimmer so the delrin will probably make it even nicer

That really depends on what you want out of your EDC blade, how you dress, and what level of comfort you are willing to give up to carry it.

I have carried it before and it does just about fit into my levis pockets and stay concealed, and it's fine IWB or OWB.

I usually just keep it in my car bag most of the time and my mini grip handles just about anything I need it for my every day purposes.

Spyderco Para2 is my in house blade.

I will say that this is my second Esee-3. I lost my last one on a camping trip and couldn't find it when I got home and unpacked. Finally got around to replacing it and haven't had a chance to abuse this one yet.

If you are just looking for an excuse to buy one, hell yeah, do it. But if you want a dedicated EDC blade, it's a bit big unless you need a fixed blade

How does the grip's hole work compared to the para?
>>
>>28321150
Para hole is a bit bigger but I have never had any trouble getting the Benchmade open with a smaller thumb hole. Plus the axis lock is great and you can open the blade by pulling back the lock and flicking it open.

I was a thumb stud guy until I got my Benchmade which led me to the Para 2 and now all I want are spydercos, cases, Benchmade with thumb holes, and fixed blades.

My favorite thing about the mini-grip is that it fits perfectly in that tiny pocket on your jeans and doesn't really take up any other pocket space.

I bought the sodbuster because i wanted at least one slipjoint and i actually had the paramilitary gifted to me by my old man who what the fuck didn't pick a flea market blade and he hates knives
>>
>>28321219
I picked up my dad a Boker Rangebuster which is their version of the Sodbuster, but it's a locking blade. My dad loses knives like crazy and doesn't take care of anything nice except for his tractor.

But that got me looking into the Sodbuster after I was interested in the trapper. I have a victorinox cadet and that's my only slip joint worth a damn, so I want to add another one or two.

Go for the larger version because it they both carry well and control is good as is backspring

Thanks for the reply m8, I'm definitely interested, I'm torn between the 3 and 4 though, or maybe a 4 and an izula. They all look good
