Despite what you may think, there's not many blades in the UK that are illegal to own. concealed weapons, punch/push daggers, switchblades and gravity knives are about it.

a lot more are illegal to *sell* - curved blades over 50cm that arent "traditionally made", so you cant just go to a local fleamarket and buy a shitty katana. but you can still own them if you get 'em.

As for what, well, frankly, that's a bit like asking "how long is a piece of string". what sort of sword, what sort of knife? what budget? what purpose?
A £2000+ handmade sword is an entirely different thing to a £30 "ninja katana", even IF the handmade one is a blade of the same type. comparing a saxon sword with a japanese weapon is entirely pointless. Same goes for a knife by some of the custom makers, or a benchmade job. you need to define what you want better to get any meaningful answers.

Have a pic of a sword by Tod's stuff.
