Why are glock sights the way they are? They're certainly different from other pistols. Do they provide any advantage over more traditional pistol sights?
Dey cost Glock 5 cents less to produce.

whats so different about them? They just have a white "U" shape to make the black of the rear sights stand out from the black and white of the front sight blade. The rear sight is also made of glock brand glockenplastic so easy to make.
They seemed to work fairly well in good light but i replaced them with some trijicon sights that look xactly like >>28298692

So, as a non-troll response: Glock designs were first and foremost meant as duty pistols. The sights were designed to be easily and quickly acquired under stress. The giant, almost oversized U shape is easy to pick up and get a decent sight picture. You have to remember that glow in the dark or fiber optic front sights weren't really commonplace when the design was made, and compared to traditional pistol sights with non-glowing dots or metal notch sights the U-shape with bright white sticks out much more to the eye.
Glock hasn't changed the design because Glock doesn't really stray too far from the base design philosophies for it's new guns much, and because the wide array of aftermarket sights for competition or just more dedicated shooters exists anyway.
Better to just put cheap sights on and sell it for less instead of putting expensive sights and everyone still hating it and paying more

Glocks were never meant to be target pistols, so they put on some fairly basic sights that made for easy alignment. Glock, being glock, doesn't change much of it's design, and kept those sights because they work, and if that's not good enough for you go fuck off and buy one of the 9001 aftermarket sights available for them.
