Would a buckler be applicable to modern martial arts in any way (IE use with an asp or pr-24)?

you can bash someone's brains in and block a sword attack fore sure, but i see no use when combined with a gun:
>no chance blocking a bullet
>gets in the way when you want to reload
>accuracy will drop
>youll look plain retarded
Bump for tactical boredom.

>Needing a gun when you have a sword.
>>28275537
>having a sword when you could have a 1000x folded steel katana
westerners everybody.

This.
Pistol + Sword, makes sense.
Sword + Buckler, makes sense.
Pistol + Buckler, autism incarnate.

So.. what about with a baton? They aren't like medieval maces, so I could imagine the technique would be different.

>Needed a baton.
>When you have a sword.
>>28275173
Yes. Despite the opinions in the thread, a buckler is still a weapon. Its a kin to having any other blunt weapon.
Ill take a someone who has mastered a buckler over a guy who just picked up a 100000000 fold katanasan.
Also this is not much different from a riot shield and a billy club

>1 foot wide shield
>not much different from a body-sized shield
What?
>>28275595
>Pistol + Sword, makes sense.
what
>>28275173
Yes, you could stand toe to toe against a riot policeman.
Enjoy beanbags tho.
>>28275173
Even better, double bucklers.

>He doesn't specialize in ranged and melee attacks.
I bet you aren't even a beastmaster.
>>28275173
clankening 2 : electric boogaloo when?
>>28275686
The principle is the same. Could also sayits like havng over sized brass knuckles and a baton
>>28275699
>blueberry or other worthless being detected
>bash in the head of a mugger
>realize what i just did
>call the police
>crouch down next to his ear
>nothin personnel, kid
>>28275699
Used to be a thing when reloading took forever.
That Cold Steel buckler is a plastic training shield
Honestly, I would use a shield of any kind in a HD situation. have a crappy wood and scrap metal one I made that would definitely hold up against bats/machetes
>>28275712
I don't know why, but I lol'd at this; invoking nervous stares from everyone here at SFO.

Good hunter, you must be joking.
What about a bulletproof buckler
may be better off having a batsuit-style bracer on your off-arm. it gives you a hardened surface for striking someone, and general stays out of the way
