I hesitate to put forth any guess without conclusive backing. But my suspicion, given the context, is that it could be the front portion of a fuze from a HEAT warhead. Some sort of PE crystal in there meant to give a signal to something with the explosives.
At a glance, I can find things which are very similar, though not exact matches. The item is too featureless and lacks a resemblance to any fully formed ordnance. It's almost certainly a piece of something, not a full item. I'd focus on looking at the front of HEAT fuzing.
