OP. the project died. in order to reproduce a weapon you need either drawings with accurate details, or an actual weapon to measure and copy. they were destined to fail.

Well considering they were attempting to legally build a semi auto version of an existing gun then yeah, that's nothing illegal, as long as they do all the right paperwork and whatnot.
It turned into some sheet metal abortion before it went dead.
Turns out you can't make a gun from pictures and no manufacturing capabilities.
