I think for people who have never fired any gun, firing an AR as their first gun would be a lot more fun.
For me, I had already fired bolt actions, semi autos, shotguns, an SKS, an AK and a literal ass load of handguns before I ever got my prints on an AR, so it was kind of like..."huh, that was neat. I guess".

exactly what happened for me, but i hadnt shot a lot of guns before.
a few handguns, a buddies mosin, and my 870. slugs in the 870 and the mosin are still my fav
