You can't always be there for them. How prepared is your family for an active shooter threat when you're not there? Do they know how to stay alert? Can they defend themselves if need be? Do they know how to take evasive actions? You may lug around 10lbs of edc each day, but you still risk losing much more than your own life if you don't take the initiative to teach them these things.
