Alright /k

Long story short,
>i have always considered myself a pretty passive, non violent person
>getting robbed at gunpoint will change that

I want a 12 gauge shotgun that holds at least four shots in it, is reliable, and economical on the wallet.
My budget is $500 or less, go
>>
>>28027494
Mossberg 500
>>
>My budget is $500 or less, go

Save up a little more and get a Mossberg 590.
>>
>>28027494
You just answered your question with your own image OP, get a Mossberg 500, or if you're reeeally on a budget, a Maverick 88 (Also made by Mossberg)

STAY AWAY FROM NEW MODEL REMINGTONS
>>

RIA m5
mossberg 500 or 88
remington 870
You can get any of them for like $200.
>>
>>28027510
Yeah this. You cannot go wrong with a Mossberg 500 or Maverick 88 (budget model Mossberg). They are workhorses and will not fail you.
>>
>>28027523
Oh, but don't buy one of those stockless pistol grip models. It seems like a good idea until you try to shoot them accurately.
Shotguns do not compensate for poor aim like they do in video games.

On the fucking 3rd post,
> le ebin REMINGTON IS SHIT maymay

>hurr it's a meme if I don't like it
Cerberus fucked up every company they acquired. I do not trust any of their products after they cranked out so much garbage.
>>
>>28027494
You can get a mossberg 500 home+field combo for 300 and tax on sale.
>>28027595
Remington quality faceplanted after acquisition, and the newest production is only up to "mediocre," not where it was before.
>>
>>28027595
That does seem to be the consensus. I prefer the 870 myself, but only because that was my first and only shotgun for a while. The only real advantage the 870 has right now is a crossbolt trigger safety which works better with pistol grips.

No problemo. When you're picking defensive ammo you'll want some 00 buck. If that's too much for you you can look for some low recoil buckshot. Either way it packs a serious punch.
Buy some cheap target ammo for practice at the range too.
>>
>>28027749
pls attach a light
knowing your target is good
sorry you got robbed

88 is wholly sufficient.

Do you have one for pistols?
>>
I bought the winchester sxp black shadow 28 inch barrel 3 inch and 2 3/4 shell model for 310 on sale. Its the fastest pump on the market because the pump will pop back from the recoil allowing for faster pumps. Also the felt recoil is low. Its a nice gun. Only issue the gun has is that its pretty new and there as less modificatios for it
>>
>>28029654
There's a /k/ approved full size 9mm pustol pic that is in the sticky i believe.
>>
>>28029654
Pistols are a whole different can of worms. Expect a shitstorm with that kind of question without stating a budget. And even if you do, expect a shitstorm.

What

Is

Your

Budget

>quality control goes to shit after Cerberus buys them
>Remington 700 rifles had problems for decades with going off without the user pulling the trigger
>replacement trigger for affected Remington 700 rifles ended up having similar problems
>made the R51, which would regularly fire out of battery and was dangerous to the user on top of many other issues

Get a pardner pump and spend the rest on a good flash light, ammo, optics, night sight etc, get a good package and enough ammo to practice
