Actually just a refurbishment mark, but close enough.

>Its been Minwax Polyurethane'd by Big Bubba.
Looks like a light colored age'd shellac to me, that hasn't started to flake.

Decent mosin op, looks to have strong rifling/bore, should make a good shooter. How much you pay for it? Also is it matching.
>>

im just fuckin with you, just havent seen it before. look inside receiver left for threaded holes, but i doubt it because it doesnt have the cn markings. Make sure you clean the everyliving piss out of that bitch before you go shooting. as in seperate the wood from metal and use a fuckload of q-tips and non-chlorinated brake cleaner.

Thank you for your answer. So the diamond means that it was either broken some way and fixed or just remade? Im a /k/anada fag so I payed $260 on it from Cabelas. All matching. Bolt/Buttplate/magrelease/reciever is 1822. Its my first rifle so its got a really special place in my heart.

Almost all russian rifles that went to a combloc countries arsenal were refurbished, which could mean reapplying some bluing, to fixing a crack in a stock. Almost all rifles will have came from Ukraine, which will usually also have a square with a line through it diagonoly to symbolize a refurbishment. This mark can generally be found on the top on the receiver or on either side of the buttstock.

Have fun, I bought my first 91/30 for 80 at a gunshow about 7 years ago. Remember to clean with water to wash away the corrosive salt residue from the primers of surplus ammunition if that's what you plan on shooting.

Heres one of the newer mosin's I've picked up, a Bulgarian M38.

refurb mark is a square with a slash ie [/]

A can or two of non-chlorinated brake parts cleaner is what you gonna need to clear the locking lugs of the chamber, and a bore cleaner WITH copper solvent to get that streaking out the barrel. After you use BPC, make sure you oil the shit outta that gun, cause it strips any corrosion protection, ie oil or grease, out of the metal. And remember to clean inside the bolt as well. I hope it at least came with the disassemble tool, looks like a beer bottle opener with a couple essential grooves cut out of it.

You do know more than just Ukrainians refurbished the rifles right?
