What kind of optics do you guys prefer on your guns? Brand? Type? What do you like on what gun?

I'm thinking of getting the Vortex 3x prism scope for my 20" AR build (pic related). Seems to me like its basically a "poor mans ACOG" which suits my purposes well as I am a poorfag.

Anyone own it and have any complaints? Something else I should buy instead? I was also considering getting a Vortex Strikefire II with their 3x flip-up magnifier.

I used to have a Primary Arms 3x similar to that scope. It worked fine and the glass was pretty good but I didn't think the weight was worth it with the magnification and limited FOV. I'd rather have iron sights and save up for an ACOG or decent variable optic like Vortex PST 2.5-10x32.

Vortex PST owner here; you are making a great decision. Best bang for your buck, ever.

ARs at allowed in Australia?

Are they really noticeably heavy? I was hoping for something like this because of the lack of parallax

If you have one rifle, save up and get a nice optic. I managed to snag a used TA33 for $600 w/ warranty card. Well worth the wait

Either a PST or something from SWFA. Either choice and you're going to have a good time.

Trying to decide between that PA and those acog clones that Atibal makes now. Supposedly they are going to make an illuminated one soon

I have an Aimpoint T-2 Micro on my 14.5" AR. The biggest reason I have it is my department only authorized Aimpoints and EOTechs.

That said I have no complainants and imo it's the best 1x optic on the market.

Does anyone know about the Insight Tech MRDS. I found a slighty used one for $250 and are wondering if they are any good. He also has an acog for $600.

I have the MRO on my AR but I'm thinking about trying out one of those 2-10x FFP Vortex PSTs
