British Lee-Enfield SMLE Mk.III*.

Look on the metal ring under the bolt handle for the manufacturer's rollmark.

Lee Enfield No1Mk3 British service rifle from WWI and II.

Cool find.
>>
Rollmark reads as follows;
GR
BSA Co
S ht LE
|||

42

(Some of the letters are faded so I might be off about them.)

Also what would the value of this piece be?

>GR
George Rex, for George VI.
>BSA Co
Birmingham Small Arms Company.
>S ht LE
Short, Lee-Enfield. (fully: Rifle No.1, Short, Magazine Lee-Enfield)
>|||
Mark III.
>42
1942, the last year of No.1 Mk.III production at BSA.

Depends on a few things. Does the serial numbers match? Does the bore look like pic related?
>>
Bore seems to be clear and the serials check out

If OP could take a clear photo that could help.
>>
>>27946740

Depends, if its in good condition with all matching numbers he could probably get more than that.

Is OP a bong?

Its a SMLE No1 Mk III.

Given the countries where these are common tend to have fairly onerous gun regulations you may want to check your local laws.

Or if you are in a freeish country like the USA disregard.

dont sell it, try to hold onto it if you can. its a family heirloom, even if you dont plan on shooting it

While I am against chopping up old surplus guns in general, I did get to shoot that gun, and it was awesome.
