Is ZQI ammo, 7.62x51 specifically, worth buying?
AIM has 240 rounds with a can for $110.

That's what I keep hearing. I'm pretty happy with it. I love how it looks and feels, and really enjoy having it in a caliber I can pick up anywhere, along with options for softpoints etc.
I have a small issue with the magazine not working 100% if you don't hold the rifle firmly. I can empty a mag, but hand it off to someone and they'll have it screw up on them up to a couple times in a mag because they have a loose hold.
I think it would be fine if the feed lips were bent just a tad more to let the rims ride slightly higher. That's my theory anyway.

i forgot which FAL can use all FAL parts, is it inch pattern or metric ?
The lack of any sort of finish on the metal of my STG build is really frustrating. There's seemingly constantly some very minor rust on the handguards, bipod, and muzzle brake unless I coat the thing in oil every other day and it gets really annoying.

Some of the .308s are shit as the early batch were reamed badly, with poorly-judged cuts to the recoil spring.
The second batch that were converted by CAI were much better - regardless, I'm more a 7.5mm man myself..
Also, the fuck is with all of the MAS 49/56 posts this week? I mean - I love them but it used to be Billy alone re: MAS goodness - now it seems as though the secret is out re: the poor man's FAL.

Seems like decent plinking ammo from the ~300 rounds I've fired so far. Had one under-loaded round that failed to cycle the action. It had enough oomph to unlock the rollers but that was it.

Already have a set of green plastic, but I'll have to remove the heatshield from the slim guard to fit the barrel.
Think I'll tape off the edges of the sight post, rear sights, the recoil pad, remove the handguard and rear stock for now until I decide which one to use.

ZQI makes a great ball ammo. It's not match, but neither is my PTR GI model. For a bolt gun shooting groups at 100 yards, buy the good stuff. For a battle rifle, buy ball ammo. Just my $0.02.

Oh, forgot to add that I use ZQI for my PTR PDW. I like it well enough and never had a problem with it.
The guy I got my M1A from said it wouldn't cycle with ZQI sometimes, but he must have gotten a bad batch or something. I just bought 100 rounds to try it out with.
Also, from what I've heard ZQI's contract with Wal-Mart is up at the end of the year. Stock up.

I'm just going to assume I got in on that batch. And yeah, the mas 49 isn't a topic that comes up often. I see one here and there hiding in a collection though, but I don't get the impression that people shoot them much. I wouldn't either if I had to buy the french round online instead of getting a box or two of 308 every time I hit up a walmart or gun shop.

I wonder if it's actually the color correcting to remove all white haze pictures usually start with, or the unsharpen mask I do in gimp that brings out borders a bit better.
I'm almost always using a tripod with my camera's "artistic" mode so it captures a less blurry pic too. The color scheme starts off pretty messed up in that, but it turns out nicely with some white balancing. Maybe that's why?
Here's a pic of my surrender stick with regular snapshot mode on the same cam, but you can see why I don't ever use my camera off of a tripod. It's a joke of a camera without that tripod.

Not as much of a problem on parts kits. Their service leaves a lot to be desired, as does some of their in house parts.
