Admittedly I'm being a bit harsh towards the indians here, as they were forced into strange troop deployment patterns by incompetent chiefs, but then again they'd already fought a war against pakistan and won that, and this was a literal border skirmish. the average indian soldier is hardy enough, but they (and their officers) have a dangerous predilection towards standing their ground until they're all dead or out of ammunition, at which point they affix bayonets and charge.

China can't even reach India with conventional forces, much less attack it. While the PLA might be able to handle India's army, it sure as fuck can't do so after crossing Nepal or trying to run a supply line though Tibet. The Himalayas are quite possibly the hardest terrain on earth.

What's even more laughable about it is India's foreign policy.When you can't take out an enemy by yourself you look for allies.

Nepal still has half the country being communist and India itself has a huge amount of it's territory under the control of the Naxalites (communist rebels): Neither of these groups necessarily love china but they'll happily take their weapons & supplies to achieve thier aims. ie the PLA doesn't have to attack india directly, they could cripple it by supplyin and training the groups already there; I doubt it's hard to smuggle stuff into India or cadrs out for training.
