Recently ordered a M1917, and was hoping that could scratch my itch for having a firearm potentially used in WW2.

I know that M1917s were left over from WW1, but I've read that some Marines/Navy pilots were issued with S&W Hand Ejectors.

They weren't uncommon at all. By WWII the only army left that issued a revolver as a primary sidearm were the British. But revolvers were still very common. The Soviets were still producing and issuing the Nagant even though they had the TT-33. The Americans were issuing hand ejector/military & police revolvers typically in .38 Special and the Victory model in .38 Special as well as 38/200 (38 s&w) for the Brits. Then of course you had the M1917s and Brad Pitts character in Fury using one would have not been an uncommon sight on officers and the like. S&W also had their .357 Magnum cartridge come out in the 30s so some people carried them. It was also pretty common like in The Pacific where the characters father buys him a pistol and holster. My father remembers during the war his neighbor buying two S&W M&Ps and shipping them to his sons who were going to Europe.

My grandfather was issued a revolver in korea (usmc). So I'd assume that they would still be prevalent in ww2.

Those cost over a thousand dollars, especially for restored ones in Canada. I'm contemplating "converting" my Norinco 1911 into a replica (minus the markings). If only Springfield kept their GI line instead of replacing it with Mil-Spec
>slanted cocking serrations
>non-lanyard msh
>grooved instead of checkered parts.
