Subject explains it, kicking it off with MAC-V SOG using cords on their AR mags for Vietnam era magpul.

>Frank Greco test firing a cut down RPD. The barrel has been shortened, the drum magazine lined for noise suppression while moving through the jungle, and the belt lengthened from 100 to 125 rounds. Greco is wearing a uniform that has been dyed black to resemble an NVA uniform at a distance.

The little known nickname for these chopped down M60's was "Razorback"

China Lake System 23 1.jpg

The China lake "System 23" made by the China lake naval research center's special projects division upon seeing the 400 round makeshift ammo backpacks some SEALs made out of cardboard and fiberglass for their M60's, the SPD's( lol power rangers ) version is made from sheet metal and holds 500 rounds, keep in mind the average ammo load for a SEAL M60 gunner was between 800 to 1,000 rounds, so the 500 round ammo backpack wasn't unreasonable at all, it meant no reloading needed for quite a bit of shooting.

And this is that setup with the "Razorback" M60.

Is anyone even watching?

China lake grenade launcher.jpg

The most well known thing made by the Special projects division, the China lake grenade launcher, so named because it was made ad hoc by the request of SEAL's for a reliable multi shot 40mm grenade launcher, having no official adoption, thus no official designation, about a dozen apparently saw use, with at least 50 being made.

Another RPD mod, these things seemed fairly popular in special forces units.

I was reading they preferred the stoner LMG 63
at least Navy Seals were huge advocates and fans for it. I know that SOG utilized it a little bit
>>
>>22391786

Who preferred it over the RPD? US troops, or the Rhodies?
>>
88 PPSh-41's in the bay of a special variant of the Tu-2 bomber made just for this, the Tu-2sh.

Either built in the WW1 mindset of sweeping trenches, or just came out of the idea of this being rather nasty in general against infantry.

The guns were rigged to fire when a pilot pulled a special trigger, and had a combined rpm of 79,200.

The idea got scrapped once they realized "Hey, we might have to reload these things".

MAC-V SOG and SEALs both loved the Stoner 63, not sure what their preference was.
>>
>>22391942
oh sorry was referencing the U.S SOG and Seals and some Rhodesians liked its reputation from Vietnam after the war there was quite a few lying around collecting dust
>>
>>22391942
I also still wonder what the specific trick was MAC-V SOG RPD users used to get 125 rounds out of the 100 round drum, some part they removed apparently.
>>
>>22391987
that just happened to dissapate from US stores?
>>
>>22391957

Also a bad idea, because planes can drop bombs. What can 88 PPShes do that a couple 500lb bombs can't?
>>
>>22392004
alot of equipment does get "lost" after a war mate.

Well the US did this with Thompsons too, using a JL-12 Junkers Larsen.
>>
Anyone have the pic of the US guy in Vietnam wearing an SKS bandolier filled with 20 round AR mags?
>>
>>22392029

It's also cheaper for the US govt to just buy new man portable weapons and light armored vehicles from their suppliers than it is to take them home. That's why the Iraqis got a bunch of Humvees and other Yankshit after the US pulled out.
>>
>>22392067

I don't care who did it, still a boredline pants on head tier stupid idea.

Based around a Ruger Super Redhawk, it used among other things, specially made .44 magnum ammo, dropping the noise down to 120 db, from what I know it has seen a bit of special forces use.
