The Safari is absolutely not an 11. Hell, it's not even a hard 10. Get on Beat (wild style) is harder than The Safari.

why do people find the safari so difficult

>>
>>15500798
It's only difficult with respect to the rest of 7th dan.

Not that it matters, I haven't even passed 6th dan yet.
>>
>>15500700

Is this real?

What does it even say? Sinobuz? Literally what the fuck?
>>
>>15501093
It's real, and yes, Sinobuz, otherwise known as Cinnobutts.
>>
>>15501117

Looks like it'll be DistorteD-esque.

I'm 100% okay with this.
>>
>>15501018
That's true. They should really re-do the dan ranks. Everything from 8th dan up takes a long time to progress through, while everything from 7th kyu to 7th dan is incredibly gentle.

how do i play ddr properly
it feels like my movements are too big and wasteful which contributes to me tiring out quickly
whenever i see good people playing it's like they stay glued to the middle and move their feet only as much as needed with no unnecessary movements at all
>>
>>15500798
In that case Re-Rate Elisha as a 9 instead of a 10.
>>
>tfw will never own a museca eamuse card
>>
>>15501745

How do they even get those cards? Does Konami physically mail them the cards after they sign up?
>>
>>15500767
This is needed so badly. There's such a huge gap between 10's and 11's, it's not even funny. Playing on console because I'm a scrub; I can clear every 10 on Empress, minus one or two, and I can barely early clear two or three 11s. It's so bad. I'd be happy with the same 20 point scale as DDR.
>>
>>15501730
Elisha H needs to be a 9, A needs to be a 10.
>>
>>15501913
H should be 9 but A as 11 is fine. Super easy song but some parts near the end are a bit too much for 10.
>>
>>15501663
you've got the idea, just put it in to practice

base all your movements around the center square, ideally your feet are as close as possible to the center/the brackets/the other pads so you have minimal travel time

make the lightest steps that you can to preserve energy, sometimes if you're on a shitty arcade cabinet you'll have to make bigger, harder steps
>>
Portal [H] is so much fun. Are there any similar charts? Mainly talking about the fast 123+567 stairs.

Looking to buy a metal pad, or make my own. How are the precision dance pads? They look like they're a bit too far from the arcade feel for me (no screws?). Can anyone tell me how the feel compares to the arcade? I'll also take any recommended tutorials, since the only one I can remember from back in the day is the one hosted on angelfire.

I'm trying to get back into the game but the arcade near me with the good DDR machine SOLD IT and now some random fuck owns it and I can't play on it anymore. Looking for arcade feel over anything else. Any recs?
>>
>>15503365
Build one.
Nothing else feels close to arcade.
Precision Dance Pads are shit.
>>
>>15502739
w-what?

like

you want to step to the edges of the pad each time you hit an arrow?

why
>>
>>15503365
they're not like the arcade at all but they're very nice

almost feels like cheating because of how ridiculously sensitive it is and how easy it is to move your feet around when the whole top surface is smooth plastic

i have one that they don't make anymore, the ITGX that has pieces of particleboard or something to simulate the brackets/raised parts on a real pad, it helps guide bracketing, i don't think i'd like the pad as much as i do without it
>>
>>15503805
It doesn't look or feel as cool otherwise~
I enjoy the exhaustion~
Seriously though, seeing somebody play like that is far more impressive than seeing somebody hug the brackets.
I know this is 'no bars allowed' logic, but I think there's room for both.
>>
>>15502297
Things I would do.

Replace effector sliders with a touch screen.

Replace red LED title bar with similarly sized screen, and have options to have EX score and/or judgment totals displayed on it instead of the song title.

A tutorial attract mode like in Museca, and have the turntables always make noise in attract mode like in SDVX.

Replays of high scores set on the machine played in attract mode.

Toggle on result screen to show graph of EX accuracy rather than groove gauge (so you can see how long you stayed in AAA range throughout play, for example).

Music visualizer video output or at least as overlays on top of stock videos. If you're not going to bother making a dedicated video, do something that has the visuals respond to the music somehow.

Direct Adjust Mode - Hold down start button as usual to adjust speed settings. There are three categories. Top is Sudden, Middle is Green, Bottom is Lift. Black keys toggle focus up, white keys toggle focus down. Use number pad to directly input desired values.

"Unearned" song folder category. Here's your songs for which you have earned 0 DJP, whether never played or only played on previous games.

Constant Speed as an Easy Assist.

Only Sanwas will make that delicious arcade clicking sound.

Default buttons are okay if you never had the opportunity to play on an actual cabinet, you may switch buttons anyway since they're of better quality. Not that default's bad to begin with. They're fine.

For one they are absolutely solid. There's no wiggling at all with the knobs now. 0 give.

And the first song I played it felt like lasers (I seriously still don't even know the proper terminology for this shit) were guiding themselves.

I still need to play with the sensitivity a bit because I played Attack on Dwarf and did absolute shit.

how in the world were you not aware of dj dao?
>>
>>15518618
I'm french and I was looking mostly on french / eu seller.
>>
>>15518646
Are you new to these threads or something? Dj Dao is mentioned like literally every thread.
>>
>>15518760
Yes I'm new I play often but don't hang in communities of players. I used to play a lot of stepmania and DDR but now I wanna try something new with a pad.
I also want to try beatmania but pad are a bit more expensive and it's a bit more techno/electro.

How transferable are Taiko skills from 3DS to an arcade machine/actual drum?

>>15518863

Thought as much. Oh well.
>>
>>15518854
It depends on how you've been playing it. For example, StepMania can have skill transfer to DDR if you're playing with your index fingers on the arrow keys, with each finger simulating a leg/foot. Things like timing, reading, and foot technique (crossovers etc.) can transfer to playing the actual game that way. If you're a faggot that plays C1000 spread, then you're playing a different game.

I don't know the control scheme on the 3DS, but if you alternate hands as you would with the drum sticks, then I'd think you'd have a pretty good head start on the real game.
>>
>>15518901

I'm using two styluses on the touch screen. I've gotten quite a few patterns down and can pass 8*s consistently but I was mainly worried about the layout of the 3DS touch screen vs an actual drum controller.

For now I won't worry about it so much and just focus on getting over that fucking 9* wall.

konami released iidx here way too late (beatmania ps2) and it was quite literally compared to guitar hero by new players and reviewers along with having a shit songlist full of pop covers

also iidx isn't "fun" enough for an american audience, the skill barrier for normal songs is higher than basically everything in guitar hero/rock band

i think if they'd put out a 5k game on ps1 at the height of the original ddr craze they could have had a following

Try explaining US customs at the border why you and 3 friends plan to drive 9 hours from another country just to go to a Round 1

Saying that it was for games along the lines of stuff like DDR was apparently a sufficient answer

Canada, it wasn't anything major or anything but the conversation was just a bit more drawn out than it should have been (how we knew each other, our jobs, why we were driving that far, etc).

We stayed for the long weekend obviously.

I wouldn't drive 18 hours unless I was getting at least 3 solid days outta playing the games.

To people who bought an FP7 off gamo2.com,
did they put the item's full price on the package information when shipping it or just the postage cost?

Am I going to have to pay tax for the item+postage, or just the postage?

I think just the postage cost.

I remember some threads ago this was mentioned. I remember thinking it was pretty based of DJ Dao.

So how do you people pronounce "sows"?

I say sows as in "He sows the seeds"

But since people call it "the piggy place" I figured others say sows as in the plurality of a female pig.

Sometimes playing constantly can reduce your ability to get better
Give it two days or so and let your motor neurons solidify, then come back and slingshot
>>
>>15522303
Fuck you I won't fall for that again, the last time I took a break I ended up where I was about a year ago
>>
>>15522293
I think daily consistency is more important than fixation on specific improvement, as well as keeping times limited.

I think playing one hour sessions every day of the week would yield more consistent improvement than playing two hours five days of the week. Playing after being worn out won't help.

Not Kaiden, so you may ignore this completely.

You can find Tricoro on BCG if you have an account there. You can easily find PS2 Isos of IIDX but it's very outdated.

Also, Bemanigirl leaked Pendual data. But you might as well join the secret club. If new stuff ever comes out, that place is the first (and many times only) place to get it.

Is there anything wrong with starting to learn IIDX through LR2 and keyboard?
>>
Im from argentina and im getting my first IIDX controller from Djdao.

So excited, can't wait!
>>
What are the general differences between the PS2 IIDX controller and the arcade (or arcade-style)? Are the buttons themselves farther apart on the ASC, or are the buttons just farther from the turntable?

Wondering if it's worth it to buy an ASC when I already have the PS2 version.
>>
>>15524713
the ps2 version has input lag on pc.
>>
>>15524713
Turntable's farther away. It's also larger, and might be elevated more.

Keys are microswitched instead of membranes.

PS2 adapters have input lag, which (depending on your adapter) might be okay as long as it's constant. AC has plenty of input lag anyway.

I only have 1 USKOC, but I want to try playing DP. Would it be a decent idea to try playing with my USKOC on one hand and a keyboard on the other? I'm a BMS player if that's relevant.

>>15524669
if you're learning on the default LR2 keybinds (like ZSXDCF) then not really, it will get you a decent idea of how to play the game. You should try to get your thumbs on to the keyboard either way though.

>>15524713
ASCs usually have clicky buttons, bigger turntables, and the keys are further apart from the keys.
>>
>>15524723
>>15524768
I just play on my PS2, I don't bother with PC stuff. I'm just that lazy.

For the price of a IIDX ASC, I guess I'll just stick with mine. I'm not nearly good enough at this game to justify spending that much money on it. I like it, but I'd like it a lot more if I didn't suck at it despite practice. I was wondering if an ASC would help, but it's not sounding like it. Guess I'll have to git gud with the con I've got.
>>
>>15524807
there are overjoy BMS players who use the shitty PS2 controllers, they're perfectly fine to play with.
>>
>>15524840

for a BMS player, it doesn't really matter if you have fun, but i couldn't imagine doing it myself. you really need two proper controllers to get a good doubles experience.

>>15524713
the buttons on the ps2 controller are harder to press, don't really feel like you're clearly pressing them, and don't give a good clicking sound. if you're using a JKOC and it hasn't been modded, the buttons can get stuck down too. obviously arcade buttons light up.

turntable is larger on ASC and further from the keys (90mm instead of 70mm from key 2). turntable is larger, and positioned higher up on the controller. the turntable is also elevated (21mm). the US KOC turntable also has a very small amount of input lag compared to the JP one (digital vs analogue), but it isn't really noticeable.

unless you get a very good PS2-USB adapter you can't really play anything with a KOC on PC, and even then, there'll still be some notable lag.

if you're trying to play anything above a 10, i'd recommend getting an ASC.
>>
>>15525232

Who are you quoting
>>
If you're gonna use a KOC, do what I did and superglue pennies under the buttons. Reduces the travel distance and generally feels nicer to play on. It's a cheap mod, sure, but it makes the KOC more fun to play with.
(at least until I can afford an FPS)
