please convince me that spending the equivalent of almost 1,5 of my country's minimum wage on an FP7 is a bad idea, /jp/
>>
>>15103058
It's a bad idea. You should save up for a gun instead.
>>
>>15103078
Why? I can use an FP7 to kill myself too

I've been wanting this shit for more than a year ;_;

I guess you're right though
>>

It's a fucking retarded idea. You can build one yourself for far less.
>>
>>15103083
Don't use a gun to kill yourself. If you fuck up it's basically hell. Shitting yourself in an assisted care facility until pneumonia finishes the job.

Just use an exit bag/helium like a normal person.

Is there some sort of tutorial for this? Also, how hard is it? I'm not that good with this sort of stuff, but I'm willing to learn if it isn't too complicated.

On a similar note, gun suicides are typically counted in "gun violence" statistics which makes it even harder for the next person to off themselves.

The tutorial is pretty much through the mouth, and aim at the base of the brain at the top of the neck where it meets the head, and use a caliber that's hopefully at least .4 in diameter if a pistol or .350 if a rifle.

The tutorial for building a IIDX controller is pretty much browsing the homemade IIDX controller thread on sows, although it's mainly this:

Acquire buttons (knockoff or sanwas), microswitches (preferably omrons, these matter), a board (Arcin, Arduino), wires (you'll need connectors if you're using an Arcin), and an encoder of decent quality.

Get a box or make one.

Laser cut out a front plate with the required spacings (again available on sows but I'm pretty sure there's spacing all on the internet) out of some stiff material such as acrylic or wood or plastic or metal or whatever.

Insert buttons, wire them up properly, steal gamepad code if you're using an Arduino, and plug into computer, setup in bemanitools, run gaem.

I've been playing Stepmania for several years and feel like picking up SDVX or IIDX. From the few times I've played IIDX something about how you have to place your fingers felt really awkward and shitty to me though. Does that pass quickly? Does SDVX feel weird at first too? It seems like it's basically just Stepmania's spread + thumbs and reaching for a knob sometimes, which sounds great to me.
Don't want to drop 200-300 on a controller then realize I don't really like how the game feels
Thanks for any replies
>>
>>15104837
IIDX is at first very unintuitive, and no matter what style you use you will never have a "straight line" layout. It becomes natural after a while, especially if you just commit scales to muscle memory.

By contrast, SDVX is very intuitive at first, with all buttons within reasonable reach and relatively good knob placement, which is why levels 1-13 should take you (or anyone, really) less than a month to get through especially if you're experienced in 4K stepmania already.
>>

Hoping to get more insight on this pad from past or current users because finding info on these things is very difficult due to forums and company site being dead.

I'm not 100% but I'm willing to bet any ol' control box with a DB9 connector will work for it.

It might no be pinned correctly but You're going to be using it on a computer with SM or arcade data anyways, I assume, so you can just map it out correctly.

Might actually be an issue if you plan on using it on a PS2.

Can I edit the ea3 for Voltex to always be in event mode?

I have to manually make it event mode every time I play. It's a little annoying.

I once knew this autistic kid at my school who was absolutely obsessed with Looney Tunes. He'd run throughout the halls with his Bugs Bunny shirt, and would sometimes say "LOO TOONS" out of nowhere for no goddamn reason. Me and my bud found out that he was irritated as hell one week, simply because the timeslot after school where they played Looney Tunes on some channel was taken up by Sonic the Hedgehog, bumping it to some other inconvenient slot. He expressed his hatred of Sonic every other second.

One day, we decided to be dicks and I drew a picture of Sonic, using a picture from Sonic 3's boxart as a reference.

Snickering like little shits, we came up to the fellow. He was wearing a Sylvester shirt that day. I told him we had a present for him, and I handed him my drawing of Sonic.

He stared for a moment, and his eyes bulged. It came out as some sort of snarl, I think. He started low and then it turned into a fucking banshee scream. "sonnnNNNIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICC!" Promptly after that shriek, he literally fell into a grand mal seizure, and me and my bud fucking ran.

He was ok the next day and continued talking about Looney Tunes. But I can't seem to get rid of the guilt of causing an autistic child to go into convulsions at the sight of Sonic the Hedgehog.

I can understand that, it's a shame it probably has a stigma behind it too that only these type of people play it

I think the music is good for the game so I doubt people dislike the songs featured in popn
>>
>>15111007
>it's just the crowd the game unfortunately attracts is what you guys don't like?
its not really an issue to be honest, the amount of players that pop'n has in the west in really tiny, tiny enough that there really isn't much of a "community" around it. so even though the game attracts "unwantables" (which i don't think they're enough of them to really warrant anything) it isn't really going to matter because the game doesn't really have a western community in the first place. like even for rhythm games, pop'ns community is nonexistent. nobody cares about pop'n, so you shouldn't care about who plays it.
>>
>>15110892

>caring about what music is in rhythm games

I don't give two shits about rock or metal, but I play the fuck out of Rock Band, Guitar Hero, Guitar Freaks etc.

If it's a rhythm game, I'll play it, even if it's a fucking Bluegrass simulator, where the controller is a jug you blow on.

No offense but it sounds like you're really new to these games.

Eventually you will be able to see every note on the screen as one pattern and instantly know exactly how your legs are going to move. Which one hits which arrow, even if you're body is facing different directions.

Also maybe only play one of them at a time until you get the hang of it. If I started playing both at the same time I might have trouble with this too.

>Are there people who actually like it like this?
people defend this shit because osu is aim based

they're working on moving to a different scoring system thats like 70% combo 30% accuracy (with sliders actually having timing windows) and most of the tards on /r/osugame started having a big autistic shitfit because of it.
>>
>>15112967
But if it's aim based why would you defend accuracy being worth less in a score?

Are they retarded or am I misinformed on how the scoring works

yeah, you fucked up.

You'll have to crack it open to remove the lever or else it won't even fit in the holder (I'm assuming pop'n buttons are the same setup underneath as IIDX buttons).

If you're using an Arduino just switch all the LOW and HIGH terms in your code.

For other boards I'm not competent enough in electrical circuits to let you know a workaround for the NC part, although I pulled this drawing out of my ass and have no idea if it'll work or just start a fire.

That's because most Koreans have nothing to live for except be a cog in a thinly veiled military dictatorship. They live and breathe arcades and PC bangs because they're escaping from their shitty lives.

At least the Japanese invented their own hell with too much stuff to jerk off to in a single lifetime. Most Koreans look forward to either spending a fortune on plastic surgery to be remotely fuckable, or getting leukemia working in a Samsung slave shop.

If that were my future I'd play IIDX until my fingers fell off.

Adjust your sync with a minus number. If you've found a white/green combo you're comfortable reading at, it's gonna be infinitely easier just to mess with sync if you're hitting late. My main rival plays on like a -2.0 and I don't get it but she does score better than me on a lot of songs.

If you're hitting early like me tho (way more fasts than slows), play with lift instead. I play on sudden/lift and it is amazing. You could adjust your sync with a positive number but in my experience I notice it just makes things worse. My other friend was playing at +2.5 with just sudden and I converted him over to sudden/lift with a +0.5 and he's been able to consistently AA 10s.

This is on a cab with a very very good (and expensive) LCD, your mileage may vary.

So I'm confused as to exactly what Guitar Freaks Drummania XG2 is. From screenshots it looks nothing like the good ol' Drummania I'm used to. It look like Drummania DTX which I thought was some fan made game that was more intense than Drummania, with more toms and cymbals and shit.

Is this thing an actual Bemani game and actually part of the Gitadora series?

Either way it looks fun. Fuck old and bust DM.
>>

>>
>>15130173

I already was playing with a -1.0 sync, i've messed around with sudden a bit more and i'm trying it with an extremely low white number.

I also tried to increase my GN from 350 to 300, because i kept hearing that anything above 300 isn't good. even for mid level players. so that's probably why my timing is off
>>
>>15132029
XG1 added the left pedal, left cymbal and floor tom for DM and the extra two notes for GF and was released at the same time as V7. Had all the same songs, charted with the new inputs, as well as a classic mode that was like playing old GF/DM. Same thing with XG2 and V8. XG3 dropped the classic mode and had no corresponding V-series game. Gitadora basically continues from XG3 with a new UI and smaller, cheaper cabs.
>>
>>15132833
Play at whatever GN you're comfortable with. I have a pretty slow reaction time, so I played at 305 on Lincle, and I'm an SP Kaiden with 99% on a handful of songs and AAAs on a majority of the 12s.

So at the higher levels of Voltex, when you have heavy streams of BT and FX notes and are asked to wildly adjust the knobs, are you supposed to focus on the knobs or the notes?

This shit is fucking my mind.
>>
>>15137001
Well if it's just two or three notes over and over, or just a simple pattern in general then probably knobs. Voltex requires muscle memory of the knobs on certain charts, though.
>>
How do you feel about crossbeats REV.?

>>15137007

>>
>>15135931

All sorts a shit I've never seen before as I've only ever played LR2.

And my worst nightmare came to pass, realizing that arcade timing would fuck my shit back to B' and C's.

Is there a way to make the lanes wider? That shit looks like Mini on ITG. I don't get to enjoy the video anyways, as I'm busying failing a song, it doesn't need to take up that much room.

And on the config.bat, what is VOFX and what is Effect? I assume one of them is "select" but I wasn't sure.
>>
>>15137647
ask sows.
>>
>>15137647

I just set my controls with bemanitools, i'm pretty sure select is effect
>>
>>15137647
>lanes wider
No, as they're a decent width on an AC sized monitor

>video room
If you'd like to make the video smaller just turn on the score graph by holding START and scratching to select a pacemaker. This doesn't make lanes wider.

>what's VEFX and EFFECT
VEFX is used to change difficulties and also to access submenus when holding START. IF you only have one button besides START on your controller, bind it to this.

EFFECT is mainly used to switch between Floating Hi-Speed and Hi-Speed, allowing you to adjust your lane cover and green number independently with the turntable. It's also used to turn on/off the effectors, and to fail out of songs/quit Premium Free when you hold EFF+VEFX.

Finally makes 15 progress.

Keyboardmania is fucking impossible. I don't even know where my hands should be most of the time.
>>
>>15149487
Welcome to playing the keyboard, it's a fucking mess that takes thousands of hours to learn.
>>
>>15149500
Should I be looking up piano lessons first or will just playing the game more eventually help me learn?
>>
>>15144117
That's your own fault, it's a bad idea to place something as heavy as an ASC just leaning on a desk.
>>
>>15148603
>iidx skin

disgusting
>>
>>15150001
>hating on one of the better IIDX styles
Equally as disgusting
>>
>>15149487

Interesting.

I recall keyboardmania having a very gentle learning curve. I played that fucker for a week or two and I was SSing almost everything. There were a couple of 6 "smilers" as I called them that remained unpassable, but other than that the whole game was quite "easy".

It was of course nothing compared to IIDX, but still, it was quite "easy".

Also, where and how are playing keyboardmania? I desire to play this fucking game almost at an infinite level. I played this gad damn thing at basically the highlight of my life and it's remained with me this whole time.
>>
>>15149516

Why not just learn to play the fucking piano
>>
>>15150347
no one gives a shit about piano
>>
>>15150347
What kind of loser learns the piano?
>>
>>15150106
>It was of course nothing compared to IIDX
Do you have prior piano experience? I've never played one before and have to look down to hit the keys I want. At least there's a lot of practice options.

>Also, where and how are playing keyboardmania?
I'm playing the PC version with an old keyboard I have lying around. Its on sows as Keyboardmania PC.
>>
>>15150411

No I didn't have any previous piano experience.

Also, PLEASE tell me how you got that shit working. I've downloaded it and failed to get it working. I've actually bought and returned two keyboards JUST to try and get this game working. Like what keyboard you're using, what USB Midi converter you're using, etc.

I just want to play Keyboadmania. Hell, I'm just about ready to buy an actual arcade cabinet.
>>
>>15150517
Its an old Casio CPS-300. The midi cable is just some generic midi-to-usb one I found on amazon. I had a hard time getting it to work before finding out you're supposed to have the midi in cable plugged into the midi out port instead of having midi in put into the midi in port. I'm also on Windows 7 if that matters.
>>
>>15150538

I've used 3 different keyboards and not a single one has worked. I've just plugged these fucking things into the computer via USA A to B cables.

Looks like I actually need a USB Midi converter. I too, am using Widows 7, so this god damn thing should work.
>>
>>15150598
Your keyboards have usb ports? I've never seen that. But yeah im pretty sure the game only supports midi interfaces. Luckily though a usb-to-midi cable is only like $10.
>>
>>15150720

Yeah, shit like this. Never worked.
>>
>>15150053
Not as disgusting as having a IIDX skin for KSM.

KSM win in disgust.

With most talking about owning a ddr cab nowadays, what's the average price an old ddr cab goes for?

What should you expect to pay for an old extreme supernova cab?
>>
how do i customize my avatar in copula
>>
>>15153689
go to the eamuse website and customize it

This is of course assuming that you've paid the monthly fee
>>
Wait so everyone here has a sows account except me? What gives?
>>
Explain to a retard like me: Pendual runs at 59.9 fps on one of my monitors and 69.9 on the bigger one.

I play on the bigger one. Is that the reason my score is only shit like B and A?
>>
>>15154216
I don't know, retard, play on the smaller one and see if your scores dramatically improve.

As long as your FPS is constant to at least the hundredth's place (e.g. 60.05x) during monitor checking you should be fine.
>>
>>15154254
They're about the same (with 59 fps being slightly better) so I guess the problem is me.

And it is constant for me so I guess I'll keep playing on the bigger monitor.
>>
>>15152131
Anyone?
>>
>>15154135
You're in the know, right?
>>
>>15155028
No. I just want an account to play the games.
>>
>>15155805
Even if you got a sows account, you'd still have to get someone to give you a pcbid, which is a shot in the dark.
>>
>>15155847
>pcbid

I don't even know what this is. I guess I really don't know what I'm getting myself into.

Don't even know if HDD Copula is a thing but I'm just after the newer songs and I'm not really a fan of LR2. Other Bemani games are just a bonus.
>>
>>15155975
In laymans terms, you can't really play any games until psun comes back
>Don't even know if HDD Copula is a thing
Its not
>>
>>15155983
>It's not

Guess I'll just wait then.

>until psun comes back

Aren't everyone scared of Konami? Are there really plans to bring it back?
>>
>>15155983
>>15156018
You can play offline with ealocalserver, but this disables score saving, so you'll have to make a spreadsheet or use a score tracking app of some sort.
>>
>>15150517
Oh God don't ever get a cab it's the worst thing ever. It's so loud and obnoxious and I hate the attract mode. And Firebeats are so finicky and break so easily :(
>>
>>15156367
>attract mode

I'm pretty sure there's an option to turn down the attract mode volume - it definitely exists for SDVX/IIDX data
>>
>>15156367
>It's so loud and obnoxious

I'd kill for our local X2 cab to be loud. Its piss quiet and the higher ups wont change it.
