It's a bad idea. You should save up for a gun instead.

On a similar note, gun suicides are typically counted in "gun violence" statistics which makes it even harder for the next person to off themselves.

The tutorial is pretty much through the mouth, and aim at the base of the brain at the top of the neck where it meets the head, and use a caliber that's hopefully at least .4 in diameter if a pistol or .350 if a rifle.

The tutorial for building a IIDX controller is pretty much browsing the homemade IIDX controller thread on sows, although it's mainly this:

Acquire buttons (knockoff or sanwas), microswitches (preferably omrons, these matter), a board (Arcin, Arduino), wires (you'll need connectors if you're using an Arcin), and an encoder of decent quality.

Get a box or make one.

Laser cut out a front plate with the required spacings (again available on sows but I'm pretty sure there's spacing all on the internet) out of some stiff material such as acrylic or wood or plastic or metal or whatever.

Insert buttons, wire them up properly, steal gamepad code if you're using an Arduino, and plug into computer, setup in bemanitools, run gaem.

I've been playing Stepmania for several years and feel like picking up SDVX or IIDX. From the few times I've played IIDX something about how you have to place your fingers felt really awkward and shitty to me though. Does that pass quickly? Does SDVX feel weird at first too? It seems like it's basically just Stepmania's spread + thumbs and reaching for a knob sometimes, which sounds great to me.
Don't want to drop 200-300 on a controller then realize I don't really like how the game feels
Thanks for any replies
>>
>>15104837
IIDX is at first very unintuitive, and no matter what style you use you will never have a "straight line" layout. It becomes natural after a while, especially if you just commit scales to muscle memory.

By contrast, SDVX is very intuitive at first, with all buttons within reasonable reach and relatively good knob placement, which is why levels 1-13 should take you (or anyone, really) less than a month to get through especially if you're experienced in 4K stepmania already.

Hoping to get more insight on this pad from past or current users because finding info on these things is very difficult due to forums and company site being dead.

I'm not 100% but I'm willing to bet any ol' control box with a DB9 connector will work for it.

It might no be pinned correctly but You're going to be using it on a computer with SM or arcade data anyways, I assume, so you can just map it out correctly.

Might actually be an issue if you plan on using it on a PS2.

I once knew this autistic kid at my school who was absolutely obsessed with Looney Tunes. He'd run throughout the halls with his Bugs Bunny shirt, and would sometimes say "LOO TOONS" out of nowhere for no goddamn reason. Me and my bud found out that he was irritated as hell one week, simply because the timeslot after school where they played Looney Tunes on some channel was taken up by Sonic the Hedgehog, bumping it to some other inconvenient slot. He expressed his hatred of Sonic every other second.

One day, we decided to be dicks and I drew a picture of Sonic, using a picture from Sonic 3's boxart as a reference.

Snickering like little shits, we came up to the fellow. He was wearing a Sylvester shirt that day. I told him we had a present for him, and I handed him my drawing of Sonic.

He stared for a moment, and his eyes bulged. It came out as some sort of snarl, I think. He started low and then it turned into a fucking banshee scream. "sonnnNNNIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICC!" Promptly after that shriek, he literally fell into a grand mal seizure, and me and my bud fucking ran.

He was ok the next day and continued talking about Looney Tunes. But I can't seem to get rid of the guilt of causing an autistic child to go into convulsions at the sight of Sonic the Hedgehog.

I think the music is good for the game so I doubt people dislike the songs featured in popn
>>
>>15111007
>it's just the crowd the game unfortunately attracts is what you guys don't like?
its not really an issue to be honest, the amount of players that pop'n has in the west in really tiny, tiny enough that there really isn't much of a "community" around it. so even though the game attracts "unwantables" (which i don't think they're enough of them to really warrant anything) it isn't really going to matter because the game doesn't really have a western community in the first place. like even for rhythm games, pop'ns community is nonexistent. nobody cares about pop'n, so you shouldn't care about who plays it.
>>
>>15110892

>caring about what music is in rhythm games

I don't give two shits about rock or metal, but I play the fuck out of Rock Band, Guitar Hero, Guitar Freaks etc.

If it's a rhythm game, I'll play it, even if it's a fucking Bluegrass simulator, where the controller is a jug you blow on.

No offense but it sounds like you're really new to these games.

Eventually you will be able to see every note on the screen as one pattern and instantly know exactly how your legs are going to move. Which one hits which arrow, even if you're body is facing different directions.

Also maybe only play one of them at a time until you get the hang of it. If I started playing both at the same time I might have trouble with this too.

people defend this shit because osu is aim based

they're working on moving to a different scoring system thats like 70% combo 30% accuracy (with sliders actually having timing windows) and most of the tards on /r/osugame started having a big autistic shitfit because of it.

yeah, you fucked up.

You'll have to crack it open to remove the lever or else it won't even fit in the holder (I'm assuming pop'n buttons are the same setup underneath as IIDX buttons).

If you're using an Arduino just switch all the LOW and HIGH terms in your code.

For other boards I'm not competent enough in electrical circuits to let you know a workaround for the NC part, although I pulled this drawing out of my ass and have no idea if it'll work or just start a fire.

On top of that I'm losing my Pop'n skills too because I can't muster the energy to get it out of the closet.
I just lose the will to play when I see my shitty timing and how it only improves when I play something like 10 levels under my upper limit, and it's still not as good as what someone's timing should be when playing something so easy.

That's because most Koreans have nothing to live for except be a cog in a thinly veiled military dictatorship. They live and breathe arcades and PC bangs because they're escaping from their shitty lives.

At least the Japanese invented their own hell with too much stuff to jerk off to in a single lifetime. Most Koreans look forward to either spending a fortune on plastic surgery to be remotely fuckable, or getting leukemia working in a Samsung slave shop.

If that were my future I'd play IIDX until my fingers fell off.

i recently set my sudden+ modifier and have a set green number now, but i'm noticing i'm getting significantly more slows than fasts on songs with varying bpm too, what should i change to fix this, my white number? if so which direction should i change it in

I mean I've gotten more slows than fasts on different songs, not just on songs that have the bpm change midsong

I personally just set a very small white number for Hidden+ (66), but your results may vary.

Try increasing your green number a tiny bit, so you read slower and might have more time to react.

>>
>>15129085
Adjust your sync with a minus number. If you've found a white/green combo you're comfortable reading at, it's gonna be infinitely easier just to mess with sync if you're hitting late. My main rival plays on like a -2.0 and I don't get it but she does score better than me on a lot of songs.

If you're hitting early like me tho (way more fasts than slows), play with lift instead. I play on sudden/lift and it is amazing. You could adjust your sync with a positive number but in my experience I notice it just makes things worse. My other friend was playing at +2.5 with just sudden and I converted him over to sudden/lift with a +0.5 and he's been able to consistently AA 10s.

This is on a cab with a very very good (and expensive) LCD, your mileage may vary.

Why is this thread the only place I ever see IIDX even mentioned?
Everywhere else is DDR, ITG, sm5, PIU and pop'n

Anyway, apparently there's a new DDR machine up in Ferntree Gulley which I hear is 2016. I also heard somewhere that location testing is happening in Australia. I'm heading up tomorrow to check it out, I just wanted to know if there's anything you lads wanted to know.

So I'm confused as to exactly what Guitar Freaks Drummania XG2 is. From screenshots it looks nothing like the good ol' Drummania I'm used to. It look like Drummania DTX which I thought was some fan made game that was more intense than Drummania, with more toms and cymbals and shit.

Is this thing an actual Bemani game and actually part of the Gitadora series?

Either way it looks fun. Fuck old and bust DM.
>>
>>15132029

Alright, so I guess it is actually part of the series, it's just a suped up version.

So I guess DTX was just emulating these games instead of old fashioned DM.

>>15132499

Why is this so weird? Is playing DDR alone weird? Is playing Keyboardmania alone weird? IIDX?

I've never played this shit before, is there a specific thing it does with two people and not one?
>>
>>15130173

I already was playing with a -1.0 sync, i've messed around with sudden a bit more and i'm trying it with an extremely low white number.

I also tried to increase my GN from 350 to 300, because i kept hearing that anything above 300 isn't good. even for mid level players. so that's probably why my timing is off
>>
>>15132029
XG1 added the left pedal, left cymbal and floor tom for DM and the extra two notes for GF and was released at the same time as V7. Had all the same songs, charted with the new inputs, as well as a classic mode that was like playing old GF/DM. Same thing with XG2 and V8. XG3 dropped the classic mode and had no corresponding V-series game. Gitadora basically continues from XG3 with a new UI and smaller, cheaper cabs.
>>
>>15132833
Play at whatever GN you're comfortable with. I have a pretty slow reaction time, so I played at 305 on Lincle, and I'm an SP Kaiden with 99% on a handful of songs and AAAs on a majority of the 12s.
>>
>>15130173
