This is coming from someone who has never used the hitbox patch before. I played other games in the series (MoF, PCB, UFO) before playing EoSD, and those other games got me used to where my hitbox was. It is true that Satori has different cards for each shot, however going up or down in difficulty simply results in harder or easier versions of the same cards. Patchouli, on the other hand, will switch to completely different cards on different difficulties, even if you have the same shot type.

I've played the game multiple times. No Lunatic 1cc but I've at least cleared extra with every shot.
But for real I left them out because PC98 was a weird time and Mima/Old Yuuka fell victim of the soft reboot. I mean yeah Yuuka did come back, but she came back just a bit different.
For all intents and purposes, my list is just the characters that ZUN treats as the modern, Windows protags.

If you want more reasons, then perhaps the fact that they haven't gotten as much characterization, and as such it would be unfair to compare them to the others, would be a better one. Or the fact that they've both been playable in very few games (and the only other games they have been playable in were phantasmagorias).

Including Mima and Yuuka in a list that consists mostly of characters that started as stage 5 bosses plus Reimu is kind of weird, if only from a thematic point of view.Before you say anything, yes, I am aware that Marisa is technically a stage 4 boss. However, her role in the story, and her boss fight in general, is more akin to a stage 5 boss than a stage 4 one. I consider SoEW's stage 4 to be fairly equivalent to the stage 5s of the other games.
