Irc and forums still ring the best, but it's not like one has to pedantically dedicate themselves to one community.
As a whole, the demographics of 4chan and Reddit (and even Twitter) align too closely to prevent large similarities in posting styles. Alternative imageboards avoid this by being risque or generally unpalatable, and forums require a deeper social investment, which self-selects more than Reddit or 4chan.

A Western community which produces derivative works similar to what is found in the Doujin scene.
Korean groups do it
Taiwanese/Hong Kong groups do it
