Build one yourself if you want to make something extremely cheap and shitty, but for SDVX I would actually recommend buying a proper controller simply because dealing with knobs on your microcontroller and stopping them from skipping/spinning freely/not being properly debounced/spinning too fast for your shit arduino is a pain in the ass.

90% of the time I use the top style. When a chord involving 1+2 comes up I hit both of them with my extended index finger.

I'm currently trying to fold in the use of the second one though, as it can handle density much better, but can't really scratch for shit.

So I'm stuck in this hellish limbo of being either unable to handle density or scratching. And 1048 absolutely does not work for men, the thumb index finger for 1 and 3 is just so awkward and kludgy as fuck.
>>
>>14939501

Your second style looks like it'd work fine if you had large enough hands to handle the scratch distance.

Stepmania + an actual pad is perfectly fine.
Stepmania + keyboard is trash and you should just play BMS at this point.

I tried everything with my left hand. Doing what you said has my middle finger so bent I end up hitting the key with my knuckle instead of my finger. Gives me very little precision.
>>
>>14940086
It works for me, but probably only because I keep my hands rather high and drooped down above the playing surface so I hit 1 with the tip of my middle finger.

I keep hearing this from bad people, but I never really understood. I actually find it nice and spaced out for 10 (mostly 8ths, occasionally single note streams of 16ths). Easy to FC with only a couple silly parts with funny rhythms. I can't really think of anything about it that stands out as a candidate for being tricky for less skilled players.

ealocalserver is just for network check, so you can get past the boot check. It's not a functional eAmuse server. You'll want to run psun.
>>
>>14944619

I have KShoot too for SDVX 1 charts but prefer the look and feel of the actual game right now.

>>14944649

Wasn't that service shut down? I've not been following the bemani scene for a while, just started getting back into it last month when I ordered a controller.
>>

>>
>>14944591

Additionally, your scores on your actual card are completely unrelated to scores on real eamuse, so there's no reason to use your card.

If you're in sows you'll have to ask about psun, but not here.

Ah sorry for the misunderstanding. when I said the phrase "play Bemani" I was referring
to playing games in the Bemani video game series which a rhythm game series created by the Japanese (a country in Asia) game developers Konami(known for games like metal gear solid and other popular video game classics) and other Japanese rhythm games(such as taiko no tatsujin which is a game made by Sega (Sega is another Japanese video game entertainment creator they are known for games such as the iconic sonic the hedgehog video game series)). Also sorry for being unclear about girls playing
Bemani and by extension pop'n (short for pop'n music a game in the Bemani series). What I
meant by this statement is that I find it somewhat rare to see girls play Japanese
rhythm games in my local community. There are some but I would say it is only around 20% and I see them around far less than their male counterparts. I hope this posts clears up any
misconceptions that my previous post may have left you with.

>>
>>14950299
It might take you a little while to derust, but you could probably get back into pretty easily.
>>
How would you rank all of the Bemani games in order of soul crushing difficulty?

I've not had any experience with Drum Mania, Guitar Freaks, Reflec Beat, Sound Voltex, Jubeat, or really Pop'n to form a valid opinion.

If I had to guess though, it'd be something like this:

IIDX > DM > GF > Pop'n > DDR > Voltex > RB > JB > KBM > Dance Maniax > PPP
>>
>>14951183
I'd say Jubeat is one of the lowest in Bemani. It has a hard mode but that's for those who EXC everything already.

People say Voltex is easier than IIDX.

Pop'n is fun until you get to 46 and above. The walls are steep like the 10/11/12 wall in IIDX.
>>
IIDX DP > pop'n >= IIDX SP > *
>>
>>14951183
Difficulty falls apart when you consider all the games where a beatmap is literally impossible to clear the first time through.

Control complexity has a limit. Some of the games that are popular with casuals are literally just memorisation, because it's otherwise impossible to react in time.
>>
>>14951400
IIDX is widely considered the hardest music game, and yet people sightread AAA some of the hardest songs.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WylcLECrL9E

Games like SDVX and jubeat have an element of memotrash at the upper levels, but memorization requirement is generally not a factor when people discuss difficulty, and these games are generally considered to be on the easier side.

>>
>>14951443
I've heard DOLCE designed that chart, which makes it less of a sightread, even if it was his first actual play. Also, DOLCE isn't real. His power exceeds all theoretical human limits.

re: overall difficulty: pop'n has silent, and silent is fucked up. As someone who's fairly proficient in IIDX (all songs cleared) and OK at pop'n (all 49s in SP cleared minus rinascita and scale out) I'd say pop'n ends up being the hardest. No idea how GFDM or DDR compare at the top end, though.

PIU up to 17s (Once again, only at arcades)

>>14951400
>beatmap

sightread ability has nothing to do with how easy a game is though.

Jubeat can have stupid chords that are impossible to sightread the first time around, but it's far easier than other Bemani games,

On the other hand IIDX is easier to sightread than SDVX, but definitely harder in my experience.

Haven't played much Empress because the turntable on my KOC is dumb and stiff and I can't fix it because the screw is stuck. With my birthday soon there's a slim chance I might purchase a FPS to play on, but I'm not counting on it.
I play osu mostly because I'm already on my computer, and usually play DJ Max during my downtime. Haven't played LR2 because I can't be arsed to deal with the install procedure.

i'm playing pop'n and keyboard (spread) stepmania mostly as i have the most fun with them, i play ITG at the arcade once every 2 weeks so i wouldn't really consider myself to be active on it. i'll probably end up playing more ITG/DDR once I get enough money to either buy my own cab or some good metal pads.

i started playing IIDX recently after quitting it out of disliking the game, but i had fun playing it over the last couple of days, who knows maybe it'll become my favorite rhythm game!

Keyboard BMS.
I'm trying to learn IIDX at the local arcade, but I'm still at 6s.
>>
>>14952546
I was at 6's recently

my main issues was just learning to react to proper note combinations fast enough without thinking too hard about it and knowing how to shift your hands to deal with scratches intuitively so if you get that down expect to pass 7's soon

this is also the part where I slowly began lowering my green number from like 400 down to 300 and focusing on accuracy
>>
>>14952223
IIDX up to mid tier 11's but that's taking a backseat till I save up enough to order a RES/RED. My FP7 is from 2009 and it shows.

SDVX I can do some 15's but nothing too crazy. Taking a small break at the moment. SVSE5 is holding up nicely.

I'm also playing another rhythm game that if mentioned will cause a shitfest from people who only play bemani, but I'm making decent progress nonetheless. Generally enjoying myself till I get the dosh for an RED.
>>
>>14952223

I'd say I'm pretty evenly active on ITG clearing 13s ITG/Custom songs difficulty rankings (not sure what that would really equate to on the newer DDR cabs) and IIDX.clearing most 9s and a few 10s.
>>
>>14952519

>>
>>14952223
Currently playing Xonic/PDf2nd on Vita and Pop'n/IIDX when on my computer.

I'll play SDVX once I build a controller, I've just been playing the rest of them on my keyboard and it works okay. I've got Pop'n parts coming in the mail so I'll probably just be doing that for a while.
>>
>>14952223
Jubeat plus / Reflec beat plus
IIDX up to high 12s on keyboard (9th dan on AC)
>>
>>14952223
Really just 2dix, but I'm even struggling to stick with that
Shmups and Factorio have taken my focus for now
>>
>>14952783
didnt worry about specifics so i just got a set of 100mm multicolored buttons off of aliexpress, probably will replace the switches if they end up being shitty (i have a feeling they almost definitely will be)
>>
>>14952977
something like
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/1/32470858137.html ?

Also yeah, I ordered Sanwa springs and omrons because that will probably be miserable
>>
>>14952977
the switches are always miserable they're probably the QMSRON switches with like 1000g of force

Although for pop'n it might be okay
>>
>>14952223

Just IIDX
how can you play more than one and expect to git gud?
unless you spend all your waking hours just playing various rhythm games
>>
>>14953142
I wouldn't be surprised if some of the people around here do.
>>
>>14953142
I have set days where i play certain rhythm games.
>>
>>14953142
I used to play pop'n when I got stuck at IIDX.

Now it's Jubeat and IIDX for me if we're talking about AC. There were days when I spent an entire afternoon at an arcade.
>>
>>14952223

I only really play SDVX (still shit though can only pass the easy 15s) but I did recently order my FB9 so I'll have Jubeat to play for an easier game I guess.
>>
>>14947970

Not to interrupt a good bout of autism with another but the game series you refer to as "taiko no tatsujin" is actually made by Namco thank you very much

>>
>>14955867
It's not wrong, but if you don't do it properly you might miss key 1, i've been doing it since i started playing and i now can do it without missing it, but i used to miss it all the time.
>>
Do I absolutely need a PCBID to play these god damn games?

I don't really care about all the gay eAmuse features and shit, I just want to be able to play.

It damn near looks like you literally have to give some fuck a back alley blowjob for one, and after the shit storm I went through of even getting into sows.
>>
>>14956386
>he got into sows instead of just downloading the fucking leaks
I would have helped you, but you're a faggot for joining "muh secret club".
>>
>>14956393

Nobody is forced to participate in the actual community, and you are not expected to have any support outside sows in the first place.
>>
>>14956386
No, use ealocalserver.

No score saving, no rivals, etc, but it just lets you play the game.
>>
>>14956393

>muh secret club

who started this fucking meme

people give invites out like candy and all you have to do is keep above a 0.4 ratio which is stupidly easy, there's nothing secret about it

>you are not expected to have any support outside sows in the first place.
Because autists hide it all behind locked doors. I really appreciate having literally no info out there because some children throw their toys out of the pram and demand that it all stays private.

I can understand not talking about where to get AC data, although it's hilariously easy for anyone with half a brain to piece together the correct search terms, but when you're holding a monopoly on all discussion and support, it becomes a joke.

>>14956453
I couldn't give a shit if all it takes is to draw a fucking pig, I'm not joining a private autism tracker.
>>
>>14956560
That's your own issue then.

A ban on AC data extends to a ban on tech support for pirated AC data.

We'll help you with controllers. We'll help you with gitting gud.

Discussions and tech support for pirated AC data belongs on sows. And if you don't care enough to get into literally the easiest autism tracker on the internet then you shouldn't be playing anyway.

Fuck off.
>>
>>14956560
There is a fucking reason this stuff is not public, and why do you care anyway?
>>
>>14956386
There's literally a thread where you ask for one and you get one.
>>
>>14956447

>No score saving

At all, or just to the server? So there wouldn't even be local saving of scores?

>>14956658

There's literally not. I searched the whole forums for "pcbid", and there's only one active thread wherein the guy handing them out said he was out.
>>
>>14956753
At all. ealocalserver is for bypassing startup check, nothing else.

And you are extremely bad at searching. 44704.

>>
>>14956869

Couple more things and I'll shut up about it.

Do you need a PCBID for each game you play, like one for IIDX, one for Pop'n, etc? I saw people saying they need one for a specific game.

And are these IDs locked to the hardware in your computer, so you can't change anything without getting a new one?
>>
>>14956940
Thank you for playing
>>
>>14957009
You can use one for all of them, but you must never use the same one on more than one game at the same time, it will get the PCBID blocked.
>>
>>14957010
What does this mean?
>>
>>14957020

It's a Namco game, and it runs on Namco hardware, and it uses Banapass for online stuff on the newer mixes.
>>
>>14959519

I just bought a Dell E2010H off ebay for 50 bucks for the exact same reason.

Didn't need to have an impressive resolution so 1600x900 was fine and I had a spare vesa desk mount lying around so it was ideal.

Buying new is probably a bad idea as really cheap panels are going to be terrible and their stands probably aren't going to have pivot.

I'd just go used with an emphasis on vesa compatibility.

I also doubt that SDVX timing is tight enough for panel technology to be any sort of factor, so anything would be fine.
>>
>>14952223
Pretty much IIDX almost exclusively at the moment, though I do want to get into SDVX, jubeat, and CHUNITHM.

A little pop'n too, but mostly casually.
>>
>>14959519
If you want AC size, go for a UN32J4000
It's cheaper than the one listed in sows and has pretty much the same or maybe even less lag.

From a quick search on sows it looks like it's potentially possible to play jubeat AC on certain touchscreens (Microsoft Surface?) with certain mods, but you'll probably have to make a new thread and PM some people with your hardware configuration to see if it's at all possible on your setup.

How do I make Pop'n quieter without making the keys feel like shit?

I've been experimenting with foam under the plungers, but the stuff I've got is too hard and it's a hassle to cut it thinly enough.

So I'm in this thread and I believe there's only one guy handing out PCBIDs.

But he said he has them for Pendual. What the fuck does that mean? I thought they were universal.

Are some for specific games only and others for everything?

And do they seriously want me to be a member for a fucking YEAR before I can get one? What am I supposed to do for 8 damn months, just anally rape myself with a dragon dildo?

I hate sows, I really do.
>>
>>14966479
They're universal.

Get power user and farm ratio until then to prove your worth.

Nobody's going to give PCBIDs out to brand new users with no ratio and either minimal post count or a post count full of shitposting.

Yes, it's annoying, but it's the only way someone else will give you one.
>>
>>14966479
if it's any consolation that guy was a bit of a wanker considering you didn't fit his criteria anyway
you could try pming one of the other people giving out pcbids like hanyuu, skim the thread for those offering
>>
>>14966504

Everyone else in that thread stopped handing out PCBIDs months ago.

Also, I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I find it hard as fuck to get any sort of upload on that site.

Downloading the featured album nets me may 2-500 MB, downloading all the forever freeleech shit and seeding it forever is damn near next to pointless. And seeding the AC Data, that almost everyone else has, and that are the most seeded things on that site, are almost just as pointless.

Best I can do is seed anything for 36 days and exchange dellar for 10GB credit.
>>
>>14966535
outside of uploading your own shit the best way to get ratio is to either hop on AC data as soon as it releases or seed it during freeleech
