New player here. Have a Gunner character and a little girl pet from the beginning. All of this pet and gene engineering stuff is so overwhelming, can anyone recommend a goal I should be working toward in that area? I don't really have any clue where to even start with that stuff.

Let's say you fuse a monster on to your little girl.
If that monster has more of a body part than your girl, she will gain 1 of that part. (e.g. Yith with 4 rings on to girl with 2 ring slots -> girl will gain 1 ring slot) I'd say avoid gaining any body parts, or she'll become slower. The exception to this rule is that you don't gain body parts from stuff that the slave merchant sells.
If that monster has more skills than her, she will learn at most 2 of those.
If it has a higher level, then she will gain levels. If that monster also has attributes (the 8 stats like str, mag, etc) higher than her, she'll gain in those attributes too.
Look up the allies that the derphy slave master sells, and from there decide who to buy and fuse to the girl.
Here's a list that I made when I was fusing pets:
marksman - from machine gunner
lockpick, magic tool, two-hand, negotiation, pickpocket - public performer
detection - rogue archer
casting - nurse
cooking - rogue wizard
alchemy,memorization,jewelry - elea wizard
magic control - fallen soldier
anatomy - fuse a horse on to a junk pet from the slave master, then fuse THAT pet to your girl to avoid gaining legs.
Pickpocket is important. Memorization is great for reading party. Two-hand if that's what she's using. Magic control is a 2-way thing - also prevents your spells from hitting her as hard. Not sure if you have access to rogue wizard yet at your level, but cooking's important for breakfast. Anatomy to make dungeons rain meat and keep you fed.
Eventually you'll also want to give her gathering skills like gardening, but that can wait till later when you have monster balls or can cast dominate reliably.

Get gene machine.
Buy couple of robbers at slave trader and add them to to little girl until she have pickpocketing.
Than catch flying frog and 1-2 farmers and add them to little girl until she have fishing, gardening and cooking.
After than she will be ready to be your utility pet and you can focus on more advanced pet breeding\training.

For now nothing much, just train it a little from time to time by putting everything on your little girl as long it doesn't add limbs, this way you give her needed skills.

The goal of gene engineering your pets is to
1. give them important new skills
2. give them new body parts - if it's a pet that has less than 13 parts like bells or snails (though as mentioned before, you can't do this at the slave master)
3. let them gain stats that are important to them - like str in a melee warrior
4. increase their levels, because hp depends partly on levels
5. level your gene engineering skill so that you can fuse even higher level stuff on to them
6. level your learning stat

You likely don't have the skills. If you do just let them kill things and randomly check. You'll see a tab eventually.
Second time getting speed upper. Spent about 10 empty bottles by now.
Someone made mention that they have problems filling just one herb farm with 5 statues. It's possible to do but it will take some time. If you're experiencing tons of die off it might be better for you to raise your gardening skill before you get serious about planting herbs. Save your herb seeds and just raise gardening by harvesting all other kind of plants. I think 200 gardening is a nice goal to aim for but more is always nice. You'll still get some withering but it should be manageable at this point. If you reach the point where you only have a handful of withering do not nip anything. Just use gemstone of rejuvenations.
As for the scissors it's not a silver bullet for gardening. What it does is it insures replant but does not protect said plant from withering while it's growing. Helpful yes, but I hope people are not thinking that by having the scissors all their problems will go away with herb farming.
Also, I think someone wanted to use artifact fusion on ammo. I don't think ammo can be used in the artifact fusion process. At least, I wasn't able to choose my godly energy cell the last time I went in to make use of artifact fusion. Instead of ammo you may want to look into shoes. Those rarely have a lot of enchants on them so they make excellent artifact fusion candidates.
My pet Akeno is now doing good damage in both normal dungeons and the void. Have used about 10k in AP in raising tactics her tactics to 500. Now I think I want to raise dual wielding to 500. I read the wiki regarding dual wielding but I'm still left with questions.
So it says it improves your ability to fight with two weapons. What do they mean by this? Will you hit more instead of miss? Do you hit harder? They also make mention of extra attacks. How many? One more? Is it dependent on how many hands you have? So in Akeno's case she has two so would she get two extra attacks? Any dual wielders want to comment on this? Thanks in advance.

The only way to have a pet and have it not count against your limit is to put them in the Dojo or put them in an Abandoned Ranch (you won't have access to this for a long while yet)

If you can't handle somewhat strong monsters, yes. This will cause monsters to spawn in any non-global area around you, including in towns and your home.
The rarity it happens depends on how many ## I believe.

Regrowth can be assured with the scissor and planting of field tiles, but withering have that irreducible 5% chance.
This is why you should not focus on statues but on the gemstone, though getting some help to expand your farms faster and of course to stay sane before the scissors.

Not sure but yeah I get dead plants too at 700+ or 800+ skill. Not at my computer with Elona to check at the moment but it's high. I don't really plant in the rain as I should because of I want my stuff as early as possible. More than 5 dead plants I start using gemstones to get it down to 5 but If it's just 5 or less I just ignore the dead plants and continue on with my harvesting.

Weird how the my little girl lagged behind the exile and had to settle for leftover enemies, and then totally reversed their positions after learning decapitation.

Talk to the pet, then "Be patient with items at your feet". Don't remember if this option only appears at a certain intimacy level or not (I don't think so at least).
I'm fairly sure you can also use a Tamer's Whip on the pet to achieve the same effect.
Aight. I'm back with a character I plan to play for real. Hope I made a good choice with a pianist. Seems good. Made a lot of money using performance back in regular Elona using performance. I chose the bear for my starting pet because I think it's the best. It's strong and who doesn't think it's cool to have a bear mount? The rest are kinda weak. I remember the little girl being stupid and always dying and the cat and dog were even worse. Fucking girl kept on getting pregnant and her alien baby kept killing me. Or she would always fall in the fucking well.

Just so you know, performing was tweaked in elona+. NPCs won't throw stones at you unless performing is less than half their level so it's much easier early on, but it earns less money at high levels.

So that's why I found it a bit easier. So what's the best way to get money then?
I couldn't live with not knowing, so i tested two important things regarding the soul spindle after getting a little sister to get the gold of a dungeon and waiting in the puppy cave.
First, only ONE soul spindle per given NPC. No multiple copy of one, sadly. I used two soul spindle on the same little sister, and only the second was valid, the first acted as if it wasn't the right NPC ( and so effectively turn it useless as it's not empty anymore ). Gotta raise a second weakest snail, time to burn some more wells.
Second, yes, little sisters that have been copied CAN be turned for the quest. Due to the first rule, with dedication, we can predict that the maximum of little sister that can be passed to a gene is 200 ( max items you can have on you ), using multiple maps as only 15 pets are allowed at any one time ( good luck keeping track of which soul spindle is for which little sister ).
The stat reduction and INI recalculation worked as it's supposed to so nothing to report here.

If you're out of tokens of friendship and want to quickly raise the affection of an adventurer you can hire them and give them doomed engagment jewelry, then take it back by trading with them by giving them something relatively cheap since you're asking for a doomed equip, rinse and repeat.

It's usually best to save it for when your skills are really high and take a lot of plat to train, that way you can keep the potentials high for lower cost. Of course, if you find that you need a few quick levels, you could spend them to get that. I know at least one anon is putting them all into travelling and gardening to hit the level 188 soft cap (I think?) as soon as possible and to maximize herb and skill gains.
What are some good goals to aim for to get me on the right track as a fairly new player? I'm level 11, and am feeling really aimless. I've mostly just been going from town to town doing quests and trying to get all of the skills.

2. find a good riding pet. it's faster than barefoot and will be for a long time if you swap it out for bigger and better things consistently.
3. grind up some combat skills. pick one of melee, ranged or magic, and just grind the skill up.
4. do some crafting.
5. butter up to the adventurers. they visit your house and give you gifts.
6. pick a god. get your faith high enough to get all the gifts. switch. rinse and repeat until you've got the whole set.
7. train up a pet. popular choices include little girls and bells.

Finally...
So, unsurprisingly, it turns out Superregen is powerful : Ehekatl just couldn't give the killing blow.
The god inside ehekatl one shotted him though. And me.
Thankfully, the death happened at an edge, so i have been able to lure her at one edge and come back from the other. Didn't even had to savescum to get to the loot and go away ! Was afraid the area would reset, rendering everything pointless. Phew.
I can NEVER EVER come back, though. Not as long as She Who Lurks is here.

I want to make a new character, with no inherited gene. Catsister+Predator to be the punchan master? Maybe add Kukou in there to really win the World Martial Arts Tournament? Although I did just score an adamantium katana that replaced my rubinus spear I was using on my latest level 10 character. (nuthin perssonel, kid). I guess I just have commitment issues in this game, because I feel like I'm constantly squandering my level up points, and I'm not getting enough platinum for the skills quickly enough.

This can be fixed though, there's nothing you can really fuckup for good since there's no real class system.
Starting as Catsister could be troublesome instead, because once you start using AP the high speed you start at will make it harder to gain them.

AP are points that later on let you easily increase your speed up to 800 on top of other neat things like giving you lots of those usable points you get per level up etc.
Long story short the weakest you start as the easier to get AP is but just going for a normal character instead of something that will die several times at the very beginning is still good.
Speed is what influeces your INI the most. The speed value you'd like to start at should be around 130 at max I'd say.

To make money from gardening you need to plant vegetables and fruit and harvest them. Then after that you cook said vegetables and fruit and you sell them to vendors. So you need to have good gardening and cooking skills. If you use fertilizer on your vegetables and fruits you can get + bonuses to them and the food you create. Those will sell for even more. Think you can make around 2k or even more in gold for each cooked food you sell in this way. So you can make around 130k or so for each farm.

Some people wait to evolve until they get their pet to 800 speed for efficiency reasons dealing with wanting to use AP first for speed. I personally didn't wait for this and just went ahead with the evolution though. Not Slimegirl. I'm Kai. I don't recall it being that difficult. If you use your plat to stay at 400 potential and just harvest tons of vegetables and fruits the skill will raise easily. If you want to hurry it along you can also dump your level up bonus points into the skill. Anyhow, let me clarify. If you don't have enough gardening you'll see wither and your replant chance will lower. A gardening of 214 lets you pretty much plant any kind of seed and have the maximum chance of replant and less withering which is why I suggest 200. With herb seeds you will need a gardening between 20 to 213 to get the best replant chances. If you are planting on field tiles and during the rain then you can get by with much less. To guard against withering you need to have a gardening of at least 15 or as high as high as 105 but even then you'll still get some. You can read more about it in the gardening wiki.

The basic things I did with Zeome was making him buff himself (all in one turn), gave him shadowstep, made him teleport out of range when low on hp/mp, gave him natural MP recovery, and made him debuff the player with nightmare.
His stats are unchanged though. So, essentially, if you were going to trounce him to begin with, then you still will even with his customized AI routine. But if it was going to be a tough fight before, it should be more difficult.

I haven't really done much of the Lost Irva story related stuff and I'm waiting for more content to come out before I sweep through it so there's that. My current plan is to get as far in the void as I can. I want to be able to kill all the enemies in the game at their attribute and skill caps to say I'm the strongest in all of Tyris/Irva. I also heard from someone saying that they managed to reach the bottom floor of the void at level 6666 when he was playing around with wizard mode. Don't know if he's lying about it but the idea of a bottom floor to the void is the stuff adventuring legend/myth.
In my goal of reaching the deepest levels of the void I have decided to focus on creating a pet army/harem and that has kept me busy. Also through pets, I get to experiment with different builds. Instead of rerolling my character I can just fulfill my desire of testing out a mutant through a mutant pet or a more recent example dual wielding. Through different pet builds I can also test various questions I've had such as which is stronger, two hand or dual wield. My current theory is two hand is stronger unless said dual wielder is running with more than two hands but who knows. I I could be wrong and I'll find that out.
Then there's furnishing my character's house with all the cool things I've found. Since I have a palace this is going to take a long time.
As for my character I'm leveling magic device, firearm, and my spells. I'm interested in seeing how powerful each of these methods of attacks are.
There's also that one anon who is looking into a necromancy character and that intrigues me as well. I may want to get into that later. So yeah, I have things to do in the game and since the game constantly gets updated there might be more things to do in the future as well. I probably keep coming back to Elona because I can fit this game on a flash/thumb drive and play it anywhere and if you don't really want to actually play the game but grind you can easily do it while listening to a documentary at the same time or watching TV.

Completely new to the game, playing as a gunner/bandit. After a few hours of dying to god knows what, check out the wiki for a few tips. I'm looking at the firearms list and set off to get the nearest, most achievable 'unique' firearm - Winchester Premium.
Spent hours getting that faith and favor up, even got a gynoid gunner assist. Finally, after sacrificing countless weapons Mani gives me the prize, the shotgun of my dreams. Head to Vernis and pump it to +10, extremely pleased I head out to do some dungeon delving. On the way I meet up with a random merchant who sells me an adamantium machine gun for 20kish.

I was referring to the range modifier from the in-game help. The machine gun has up to 7 tiles of range, whereas the shotgun has up to 3. I just gave it (the shotgun) to my gynoid since she's still quite confused as to whether she's melee or range, where I'd be the standing f turret.

If you have any weapons that invoke mist of silence, you can silence yourself by targetting yourself with Bakuretuken, and then when you cast the spell it'll fail and there won't be any casting animation, but you'll still get experience from it. I believe you'll be able to cast it as fast as you can Oracle, although you'll need to reapply silence every now and then.

Ehekatl truly is the bestest goddess. Before the updates Ehekatl was the only goddess to come forth when wished for. All the other gods snubbed the player. If you're in a town, you probably are attacking friendly NPCs. There aren't normally any monsters in any of the towns... although people with cursed equipment can randomly summon in monsters.

After trying some things out, it looks like absolute piercing is not useful for ranged attacks and +30ing a weapon is worthless as expected. Pure magic damage might be the way to go.

Think I got that portrait from the Elona sprite uploader found in the pastebin. Could probably find other Exile pictures on Pixiv. For generic wizards with a forehead rune, I haven't had much luck with tags. I just find wizards with forehead crests, magic tats, and runes by stumbling upon them really.
Now that I think about it, if you really needed a rune forehead what you could do is just find an interesting rune, shrink the rune down in MS Paint or something similar, and plop it right in the middle of the forehead of some anime wizard you find. Or copy and paste some eye into the forehead.

They can be good combat pets. Generally they have a good amount of speed and have a nice Iife and mana attributes. All very good features. I wouldn't recommend them for a person just getting the hang of training pets though.
Once you've trained up one or a couple easier pets and have the means to move up in training a harder pet I would then consider it. Yith creatures will probably have high INI making them difficult. The reason why high INI pets are more difficult is because higher INI pets have higher trainer gold costs and have to fight much harder enemies to get AP. AP is important if you want to fast track your pet to power through the services the NPC Leold offers.

Well, you're not really beholden to stay with any one god. In fact, most players pick up a god, get all their rewards, drop said god, and pick up another god to get their rewards. The cycle repeats until you have everything and you decide to finally settle down with one god.
As a starting point I'd go with Mani. He offers a nice shotgun type weapon as a reward and the bonuses he offers is nice for a gunner. He also offers one of the best god pets because it has damage reduction. After Mani you can then check out Lulwy.

That may have been long ago but now I'd definitely rank it up there. The only thing that may need tweaking is its AI that likes to go melee range. Good if you equip it with a shotgun but not good if you equip it with some other sort of gun. Guess they expected you to give it the Winchester eventually. Any other feature it has is just gravy while the innate damage reduction is a constant help.

Web spell is nice, you can also use acid ground, mist of darkness, dazzling mist. I prefer mist of darkness because it's the easiest to deal with. When you're up against scaled spiders popping screen-wide webs that take an hour to bread out of, mist of darkness will clean it all up in one turn.

Open Gimp or any image editor of choice -> Open The SpriteSheet -> Open Loose Sprite -> Select the Rectangle selector -> Encapsulate the sprite you want to replace, make sure as much of the sprite as is possible is within the rectangle. Make sure also that you don't delete any of the other sprites next to it. Also make sure the box isn't too big. -> Press delete on the keyboard -> Go to the loose sprite window -> Select tool, select the sprite -> CTRL+ C -> Spritesheet -> Use the Selector tool to encapsulate the entire whitespace -> CTRL+ V.

I can just imagine how this went down. Some Japanese player made mention to Ano saying, "I've looked into this mod called Elona Custom and it has really neat features. Could we get some of these features for Elona+?" and Ano being like, "What's Elona Custom?" Ano probably learned more about Custom and was left with mixed feelings. On one hand it's a translation of stuff and reinsertion of cutscenes which I would imagine he would care less about but it also has it's own features which made him take a step back. The difficulty apparently has a cap according to an anon several threads back. Seem to used it as a means to summon gods at parties and for his artifact fusion needs. Considering you should be farming wonder scrolls anyways for summon spirit and meteor, you should be able to get some wish stock along the way allowing you to play the lottery. Before even reaching that supposed cap I've been able to get like 20 wishes or so just by casting the spell. The only reason why I haven't gotten more wishes is simply due to the rarity of getting wish stock and not so much as the difficulty casting the spell so far.

The stamina changes are one more tally in the buff category of balance changes. Superpowered pets, herb in, early game Shield Tonfa, spell potential buffs, Anna's custom AI (it's not her fault for implementation, but if you use it you're basically agreeing to break the game) and now SP buffs that encourage spamming of shining wave and zero shoot like it's Dragonball Z.
Elona originally had some really obtuse systems that made little sense, but at least they were very tightly balanced. Elona+ actively encourages what's becoming a single mode of play: a professional herb farming wizard with ultra pets.

No question Elona+ is still a great game, and it is stunning if you think about it, how newbies come along and ask "does Elona+ really have THAT much more content?" and it really does. It just seems like the best parts are Noa implementations that Ano tweaked, not Ano originals.
Ano is sort of appealing to the powergamer in all of us - and then you get stuff like the magic potential buff. It makes magic useful, great! But there are unintended consequences: Summon spirits (ab)use makes it so that casters are going to explode in power over a pure melee or ranged character. And now that magic is useful you have to train it, and that means thoughtlessly, boringly spamming a bunch of buffs and ball spells for how long before they're at a decent level? Good intentions, flawed implementation. (I admit the original was equally flawed, only with pitifully weak spells).
And he can't realistically roll back these changes. The community would crucify him and just stick with their current version. So you get buff after buff with slight nerfs on occasion.
Anna is a different matter: She's basically a saint to the community, but there are unintended consequences to Custom. Pet AI is going to be an arms race. Someone sooner or later will post the perfect AI routine for a spellcasting pet that constantly buffs and nerfs, and then all us munchkins will say let me get in on this, and now you have even more brokenness. I don't even have to cast my buffs anymore, I can let my pet who grows ten times faster than me do it.

Aside from cheer, pets can't buff the PC since spell buffs default to self.
Being overdependent on buffs may be dangerous too : dim or confusion could destroy your pets easily if their magic capacity isn't very high. More buffing mean bigger window of opportunity for that to happen.
Silence can be easily countered since it's a debuff and not a status effect, at least.

I'm not high leveled to really know how stuff really works but I can't help but think that later enemies will have a powerful silence lasting for many turns. Like what if an enemy can silence you for 150 turns and said enemy is also accompanied by all sorts of nasties. I don't think walking off silence would be viable since in the time frame of 150 turns a wizard character or someone who really needed a heal spell would be torn apart. You can't use your vanquish hex spell because it's a spell. Can't teleport to get away either.

The # of turns you get against your opponent is checked against your current. Whatever it may be. So mount or no, if your speed is <85 and your enemy's is 2000, well...

It was a void mob, I recall but even then it doesn't really matter what exactly does the brainwashing. Even if it happens successfully 1/1000 times, that's still a guaranteed OHKO. That's why it's a bit nerve wracking to fight demon commanders and shit.

You have my blessings. Dungeon speed running is the way to go. Basically you're just racing for the stairs ignoring the vast majority of the enemies and all loot as you beeline to the boss. The only detour you would take is if you get the message that a big daddy is on the floor you're on as you want to farm the little sisters. Dungeons are a good source of plat, little sisters, gold, and small medals so if you speed run them you should get rich in all of them. Speed running them is much easier if you're grossly overleveled for the dungeon as anything that did get in the way, including the boss, would just die in one blow.
Not sure if it's still possible now but I mainly leveled up and did my skill training in the void to exist outside of the dungeon level paradigm. Got strong in the void while all the dungeons remained low level and made sure I didn't level up the dungeons by just sticking to low level ones. If this wasn't patched out or something this is definitely one way to abuse err make the system work for you. yeah.
