what's the easiest iidx 10?

It took me so long to find out that the DDR machines in round-1s are fucking fakes....

I've been paying money this whole time to play on a stepmania machine unless I misunderstood. I'm assuming the ddr x2 machines are not real, I guess all the songs being available should have given it away
>>
What rhythm games do you guys have the most fun with?

I personally have the most fun with pop'n and stepmania (pad and keyboard)

For me it's Pendual by far. I passed almost every 9 with A on my first try and passed a good quantity of 10s. In most other styles, aside from styles I played too much like Lincle and Tricoro, I can't even beat half of the 9s with A

Took me about 40 tries to get this. Would've taken a lot less had I not been choking on dicks this entire time.

Also to the faggot from the last thread: the timing windows are as accurate as possible, and what isn't possible (more lenient early Great and Good) is made stricter for fairness. I know it's still not a perfect emulation, but it's as good as I could've gotten without reprogramming Stepmania myself. Every other "feature" you've listed is cosmetic garbage not pertaining to the actual gameplay. Your concerns about corrupting muh pure DDR gameplay spirit are unfounded as it's entirely down to Bemani's stepchart makers to choose how each one should look and what extra features give it.

I for one would love some kind of new gamemode with stepchart randomization that changes the patterns on each consecutive playthrough while accounting for all technically difficult stuff like crossovers, doublesteps and stepjumps in order to keep the difficulty consistent while forcing the player to quickly read and adapt instead of just memorising everything. Official SRT courses with visual chart obstructions would've also been nice, I'm tired of playing the same material done by the raging furfag and Undertale-loving autist all over again.

Over 50 tries spread throughout the last two weeks. Last 20 weren't even stamina, I'm just really bad at long streams. Horrible score too, but at some point I stopped caring about accuracy. This was the last ITG chart that's doable for me, Bloodrush and ITG 13s won't be for a very long time.

I'd love to write some sort of neutral comparison of DDR and ITG charts once I git gud enough to actually pass the more difficult ones without looking like a total scrub. For now almost everything I've passed looks sub-17, with some possible exceptions like Determinator, Euphoria and this piece of shit. Then again MAXX Unlimited itself looks like a 15 while PSM C seemed harder than any ITG chart I've passed.
>>
>>14825730
not that anon but I think he was just shitting on you for using stepmania instead of ACData

I don't necessarily agree with him on all of his points in terms of stepmania vs DDR etc. but if you're going to theme it/try to emulate DDR you might as well just play the real deal.
>>
>>14825971
I was playing OpenITG before switching to SM5 with DDR timing and scoring this year. The only reason I did this in the first place was me getting tired of ITG's excessive 320ms freeze grace trivialising freeze-heavy charts.
I'm too lazy to bother with all the garbage coming with the actual DDR game. Besides there are some features I'd like to code into SM in the future that obviously won't be present in DDR anytime soon.

ddr ac data is shit compared to stepmania, transparent arrows on my gpu, having to wait every 3 songs or after failing, can only adjust speed in 0.5 increments, no cmod, no shitty ziv simfiles for hours of entertainment, no simply love and having to adjust offset manually. Only good thing in ac data was nusP when it still existed.
>>
>>14822346

My first 10 was MINT. It's only challenging in the middle and it gives you enough easy shit to build back up to 80% by the end.

If you don't want to bother with "the garbage coming with the actual DDR game", why would you use this theme specifically? There are themes much better than this, and I'm not saying this because this theme is ok and others are better. I'm saying this because this theme is shit and others are ok/good.
This theme tries to imitate AC while failing at it, so it's got the advantages of neither stepmania nor AC, be it stuff like increments in speed/cmod (you cannot choose them precisely with this theme), gameplay elements (ex: no attacks), or even "garbage" from AC (ex: result screen asking up/left/right/down to see stats when AC asks left/right so you don't change screen by mistake). If it's the timing windows you are worried about, just edit the preferences file yourself.

How High is the Skill Ceiling in SDVX/KShoot Mania?

Why do some osu mania players keep grinding very easy songs (like, less than 3 stars/auto converts) trying to get #1 in the leaderboards? Isn't it better to farm hard shit to get pp or whatever?

>>14828634
as high as you want with stupid crossovers and unreadable knob traps

>>
>>14828955
>>14828881

but how's that useful? no one is even going to know you have it unless they specifically look for it, and it doesn't give you any pp for the leaderboards

I mean, people spend like, 3-4h straight everyday grinding this shit

I thought it had some other reason, like acc training maybe idk (although I think there are more effective ways to train this sort of shit)

the satisfaction (No matter how little it is) they get from it is why they do it

>>14828956
Yeah, I went from 0-11 in about 3 months, got stuck, then suddenly improved to clear every 13, then I got stuck on 14's, then my shitty homebuilt controller's knobs finally shit the bed.

But learning how to recognize patterns at the 14 level is really what was difficult for me, just changing from reading knobs as "keep your hand on this knob until it disappears" to "only move to this knob when it changes position" was really fucking me over.
>>
>>14828970

There's like a handful of guys who autistically get 1,000,000 on every convert that is released.
There's no point in trying.

The constant pp dickwagging was a big reason why i stopped playing osumania, once you start playing just to improve yourself by your own standards it's more fulfilling and enjoyable. Also iidx is a lot more fun

>>14834662

Prolly not worth your time. I've been on there for over three months and I have only downloaded one thing I really care about.

Only thing people go there for is arcade data and until you have 25 GBs of upload, you can't download them, making the site essentially worthless. I'm still 10 GBs shy of being able to because no one downloads anything but the shit I can't download to seed in the first place.

Unless you're not an idiot like me and realize sooner that this doesn't apply to freeleeches
>>
>>14834768
The site is worth it if you actually want to discuss more in depth about rhythm games (or if you're autistic, but that's pretty much all of us in the site)
>>
>>14834768
Your post made me think about this: what would happen if I downloaded non-stop from the freeleech torrent the least seeded that you have? Wouldn't you be able to get virtually infinite upload like this? Would this be even allowed?
>>
>>14834768

>>
>>14834824
You are indeed allowed to have 0 download and as much upload as you want, this makes your ratio stay on infinite.
>>
>>14834968
You misunderstood what I was saying. I was saying this: I download, let's say, office 2007, that you are seeding. When the download is finished, I delete the data that I downloaded, to re-download it again (rinse and repeat). This way, you upload continuously data to me and increase your UP amount faster. Meanwhile, I don't increase my DL because the torrent is freeleech. The goal being you having an incredibly high UP amount in a short amount of time.
>>
>>14834866
>not sure where else I'd get SDVX
Search more, there are ways to get bemani outside of sows.
>>
>>14835022
yeah but thanks to the way the torrent system works you'll probably download from whoever has the highest upload to you, and considering that almost everyone has the freelech torrents downloaded the actual data you'll get from your friend is not too much.

You could technically get around it by blacklisting all the ip's in the peers list that aren't your friend, but why waste the time? Sows is piss easy to get ratio on anyway.
>>
>>14835022

You could waste time doing that or you could just use the website normally for like 2 weeks and get power user

>>
>>14834662
>doesn't seem welcoming to new people

This gets said from time to time but I'm not sure if it's just people who aren't used to private trackers or if they legitimately believe this. Sure, it doesn't have an application system like some other trackers (rarely) have open, and it doesn't have what's interview system, but most private trackers don't have these things. There are clear cut ways to getting in. It only took me two days on IRC and a single email for me to get in. Probably could've taken less if I was more proactive.

In other words, lurk more faggot, and read the archives, this has been asked a million times.

I finally figured out why beatmania and early IIDX styles feel so much comfier: the keysounds are proper samples rather than a 1/1000th piece of the song.

>Implying the japs are business savvy

Look at Nintendo, they still aren't capable of properly releasing their games and allow scalpers to dominate their market. It's as if the Japanese are incapable of doing something right when it comes to sales or properly treating the other markets outside of fucking Japan. Nintendo continues to treat their western market like shit with these awful boxed releases

I wouldn't be surprised if they did that in order to keep the arcade sales untouched. Those assholes should've focused on the western market and pushed beatmania over here considering how popular it was around 2008-09

The official PS2 controller works fine for playing the CS games, but if you're planning to use it on your computer expect lag.
If you're lucky enough to acquire a cheap controller, you can buy a modded PS2 memory card for like $10 so you can play the japanese CS games.

They only stock the FP7 though, and after buying aftermarket Omrons the total cost will be the same as just buying an FPS with Omrons anyways.

Not necessarily, but I do think the FP7 is pretty bulky. From someone using a USKOC, I much prefer the lower-profile build of the FPS. The ability to change between KOC <-> AC turntable spacing is a plus.

I've come to learn that I don't really have any interest in jubeat, so that's why I initially felt like selling that. Thing is, I only play IIDX right now, and only have room for jubeat, reflec beat and IIDX to be set up - everything else is in storage.

Considering I'm struggling for money, I figure, sell them off for a reasonable price, and just buy them again in the future (when my money and space issues are alleviated).

I absolutely bought too much too quickly, but I had fun playing everything :)

Also I'm only selling 3 of my setups. I Stoll have DDR, Taiko, GFDM, IIDX, reflec, and countless console games. I dont just play bemani

After having gone through all the chemo for my eventual recovery of cancer (osu!)
I've been trying to become a better person. Enjoy life more, you know. Osu! was only
getting me sicker, so after seeing IIDX, SDVX, PnM, jubeat I was falling into the world of
the real rhythm games and I knew what my goal in life was: Play these games until my
hands bleed and I die of starvation from playing hours on end.

I'm planning on getting a controller(s) and already have a good seedbox in my sight. So I'm
armed and ready to beat the mea... I mean beat the mania!

tl dr; I'm well equiped to seed until my dick falls off and will stay active until the end of days!
>>
>>14855009
who is your seedbox with?
do you have proofs from other private trackers of any repute?
do you use μtorrent?
>>
>>14855020
The seedbox I was talking about is seedbox.io.

At the moment I haven't had the chance to be part of any other private trackers, but like they say: you gotta start somewhere. And what better community then this one, am I right?

Only for public trackers, grabbing an innocent quick torrent (piracy laws aren't as strict in my country so I'm good) .
>>
>>14855160
yeah sorry man, i wont invite you.

seedbox.io are pretty terrible, they have massive I/O throughput issues, their "gigabit" is massively over saturated and their slots are oversold.

just take the what.cd interview, its easy and you learn a lot, either that or join animebytes.

μtorrent is a torrent client with severe CVE's, it is insecure and damaging to the swarm, oh, its also bundled with malware and closed source.
>>
>>14855185
Please do not use the term "closed source" to describe nonfree software. It makes the suggestion that the better option would be for the software to be "open source". However, the arguments for "open source" software are based solely on its practical value to its creators, ignoring the fact that free software is an ethical imperative regardless of practical value.

But at the end of the day, I could prove myself as a loyal seeder and active member helping out others. I mean quit using utorrent and start using a better seedbox, should be a peace of cake.

Got bored with grinding FCs on old ~14/15s and got this on 8th try instead. Is this really supposed to be an 18? I take it the ending of the deathstream is absurd, but I could probably find some cheesy note-swapping strat to make an FC hypothetically possible for me.

Honestly, I can't really 'get' people playing DDR when ITG is objectively better.

A Japanese player could go "Well, there's the fun of unlocking things and playing the events", but you don't have that if you play DDR in any place that isn't Japan, and even your "Muh pads quality" doesn't work because the majority of non-Japan cabs are just converticabs anyway whose pads got sunken on purpose.

EVEN if you for some unfathomable reason you enjoy charts that don't even loosely follow the music in the background, with deliberately bad patterns that require moves that break all flow of dance so that you have to dump more coins hoping to get that FC, you can do that on ITG too.

With the difference that you won't be playing with a timing window that fluctuates on every single note unless the bpm is a perfect multiple of 60.

Literally the only argument a staunch DDR supporter has at any time is "Muh treadmill simulator", completely ignoring the slew of technical charts actually done right that the community offers in place of Bemani's latest coin-eater.

I'm mystified.
>>
>>14856129
the biggest complaint i've seen about ITG is how most of the hard charts are endless dumpstreams.
>>
>>14856055
I find it more fun than iidx but man is the shitty grading system starting to get to me.
>>
>>14856143
To be fair, that's the only way of making a chart 'hard' once you've gone past the 14th level.

And even then, the hardest DDR chart ever put out is like a ITG 13-14 rating, there's a billion challenging, while still fun and stream-free charts in that difficulty bracket on ITG.

People complain about 'endless streams' as if the existence of extremely high-level charts fitting the description ruined the whole game.

If you're able to play even the easiest of those charts then it means you're way above anything DDR has to offer already.
>>
>>14856167

>>
>>14855337

>>
>>14856167
Just look at the score, it's not influenced by the combo.
>>
why are 11's so inconsistent? some charts I can nearly fc while others I have to quit out of 20 seconds in because they're so dense.
>>
>>14856129
I like standardization.

I actually really like ITG2 as a game. I don't like "ITG" as a custom song platform.

>With the difference that you won't be playing with a timing window that fluctuates on every single note unless the bpm is a perfect multiple of 60.
It's actually BPMs that evenly divide 900 if you're concerned about 16th notes (e.g. 90, 100, 150, 180, 225, 300). The fact that all the bemani games have frame-based timing windows is really shitty, though.
>>
>>14856236
The medals are more like clear status than a scoring/grading system.

- E4690 GPU
- E8400 CPU
- enough storage and RAM to run anything
I'll sell for 50 GBP if you buy BOTH a screen and a controller for one of the games listed (SDVX, Jubeat, Pop'n).

Jubeat controller (FB9, gen3 rubber) - 250 GBP
Jubeat screen (Dell S2740L) - 200 GBP

Pop'n controller (DAO, includes arcin and sanwas) - 350 GBP

SDVX controller (SVRE9, includes arcin, omrons and sanwas) - 400 GBP

I'm with the guy above - standardisation is a big deal to me. I like have a (relatively) static selection with a consistent level of quality control and progression.

Whenever I play community driven games, there always seems to be a need for personal curation, where charts and songs are lacking in one way or another. I'm just not a fan of that.

Other points of consideration:
There's more songs on ITG - not really bothered when there's over 1000 songs on DDR. I doubt ill ever play through all of them already.
Timing is more consistent - but timing is still standardised for DDR. It may not be "right", but as long as it's wrong for everyone, you retain an even playing field. Also people have managed high level MFCs. Can't be that bad.

Social aspect of the community - there's communities that focus on bemani too. I also feel that the ITG community is very poor (elitism over cabs, e.g. Dedicab, baby powder, extremely long songs / customs that hog the machine, not as accepting of new and low level players, etc.)

The list goes on, but the end result is I prefer DDR to ITG. Don't really see why you're so opposed to the idea that someone has a preference that doesn't match your own... But ok.
