So I went to buy beer in konbini and instead of asking me to show any documents I simply had to press 20以上 on a screen. How does it work?
>>
You probably seemed 20+ just by looking.

What about vending machines? The ones with tobacco, beer in Italy require you to scan an ID card, nothing like this here. I guess it's trust?

Yes, you'll find a lot of japanese society is based on a blind honor system. It gets abused sometimes obviously but the majority keep it alive.
>>
>>14803661
But they don't trust me enough to let me in a girls only school...
>>
>>14803649
You saw vending machines with those in japan? I had heard they had them, but I spend a month there and don't remember seeing even a single one (Alcohol, i had seen a few with cigarettes).

400 yen for half a litre
>>

See, at the bottom it says law prohibits minors from drinking alcohol. That must be enough in Japan.

When I was in Japan I noticed in the big cities they had newer vending machines that you had to scan a card to buy alcohol and cigs from, but in my town there were only a few vending machines and they were all old and ran on the honor system.

Will minors be arrested if they're caught drinking a beer? Aren't there police and cameras everywhere?
>>
>>14803730
If beer is this cheap wouldn't they have many alcoholics
>>
>>14804503
When I was there, I was 19, so I technically I couldn't drink, but I did anyways, with no problems at all. I think that they don't really care as long as you're not wearing a school uniform.
I mean, there are people there that are almost 30 and look really young, so maybe that's why they don't ask.

I also had a friend of mine there that said he and his friends drank while they were 16, so I guess it's just like other countries out there.

Police yes, cameras no.

once you acknowlegdedd you're over 20, the burden of breaking the law shifts from the store to the customer. if you're underage and pressed that button and they catch you, saying the store let me buy it won't fly.
>>
>>14804533
Man, it's for 270 in a shop
>>
>>14803730
It's 300
>>
>>14803589
Before I was old enough to drink I'd literally just walk into the liquor store in my neighborhood and if they said anything I'd say "Do you really think I'm underage" in my deepest gruffest voice
>>
Drinking just seems like something teenagers and early 20s kids do to feel edgy

Feel like I'm too old for it at 25 now

>cameras no.
But, what about the Japan camera threads?

Beer in japan is expensive in comparison to my country. You can get top class beer here for what would be less than 200 yen in japan. Next to cheap beer you can buy in a 20 bottle casket for 1500 yen or less.

Beer and wine is normal to have 25 and up. At an Italian restaurant, many dishes are complemented with wine.

Those machines require special cards that are purchased beforehand (with photo ID confirmation) to operate.

The one on the photo I've posted doesn't. It's in a hotel though, maybe that's why

is that you?

Not being able to control how much you drink and binge drinking every single time is like that.
